I like to be able to connect an electrical tool such as small vacuum cleaner to clean things on the attic or a light.
For convenience, I like to plug one end of this cord to an outlet on the ground level, then let it run straight up to a small hole on the ceiling to the attic. So, only a few...
Hello. In my kitchen I have two sets of lights, each set contains 5x G9 bulbs. The switch turns them both on/off simultaneously. Recently, one set of five turns off randomly while the other set remains on.
I've tried removing some of the bulbs so that only two and then three bulbs were fitted...
Hi everyone
My Napit assessment is approaching and it would be nice to get some feedback for my planned work on my of my friends workshop.
There is already a consumer unit but its without RCD protection and thats on the shop floor.
My plan is to make two circuits one lighting 6A and one Ring...
Well I ventured out into the kungflu today and one of the other items picked up was Professional Electrician for December. So I’m having a cuppa and reading, as I do. The article on p33 is about Amendment 2 to the 18th Edition. All good so far. Then I read that they are proposing all socket...
I have 9 x halogen lights in kitchen ceiling 3 in each transformer wired into the main ring. the centre set come on then go off, then come back on again a while later, repeating this process. is it the bulbs or is the transformer on its way out ?
About 4 years ago I replaced 20+ halogen spots with GU10 LED's. I didn't change the downlights but removed the LV transformers.
Every time the customer asks for other electrical work they report that a few bulbs have gone dim and I replaced them.
Today, more work but 7 more bulbs need changing...
Recently changed my starter relay on my xv1600 wildstar. When reattaching battery cable, it caught a small thermostat and sparked. Now whilst I have power to the relay from the battery I have nothing beyond the relay and turning the key does nothing. All fuses have been double and treble...
Seeing as it is at a spooky castle in Wales this year I wondered if any of our lovely members are going to be working on the set??
If so what will you be doing?
So im not terrible as electricasl but also not the greatest. I know how to wire up relays and fuses and all that stuff but the wiring sizes for these lights has me in a pickle. The Vehicle is a 1989 Jeep Grand Wagoneer and ive already upgraded its 78A alternator to 150A, with 100A at idle so...
I just wondered what people’s thoughts were as to weather it should be earthed being an extraneous conductive part? It’s fixed to the concrete floor and if there was a break down in insulation there could be a potential difference. If you do bond it could it be introducing a risk?

Currently my builder is placing the cables straight under the slabs between the hard-core and cement. Should he be doing this or do they need to be insulated?
Hi there,
I qualified with city and guilds level 2 and 3 6 years ago. The job (AV industry) I thought i was going to lose at that time didnt actually happen. I still have it- at the moment.
I continued to do domestic work with sparkies i know every so often throughout the years since qualifying...
So I've been wanting to enter the electrical trade for quite some time, I'll try and keep my query as brief and as straightforward as possible :
I'm 32 years old with no formal electrical qualifications, or industry experience. I'm essentially from an academic background, I've previously been...
As a rank amateur at electrics I had hoped to have an electrician complete the mains connection to my low voltage garden lighting. Owing to the lockdown this isn’t possible so I’m going to have a go. Question - I already have a fused spur, fed from a double socket, to feed an outdoor garden...
what are going to do now the hairdressers are closed for month ,we will probably all end like some thing from the planets of the apes after this corona virus finishes .lol
This isn't about the pros and cons of the various job lead and advertising sites.
Had an email from checkatrade saying that during April and probably future months you can either pay a reduced 50% monthly fee or become associated member which means you won't appear in general search results but...
