Hello, from North Texas, I am a long time DIYer.
I have a question about possibly changing or moving the electrical ground from the electrical load center, breaker box, that is clamped to the cold water copper supply line at the electric water heater. The breaker box is marked "Primary ground...
Hi guys.
Got an issue with a DC string ... I am doing some DC testing and one of the strings is 0.5ohms (negative to earth). Positive is 29mohms and rising to earth.
Now usually I would expect to find a crappy mc4 or a damaged cable but this time I am on a farm where all the cable is visible...
Hello to all, I stumbled upon a strange problem this morning. I wanted to change the light bulb socket in my bathroom, when I noticed that when the ground and phase wires come in contact, the fuse-box trips even though the light switch is turned off. So I took a pen voltage tester and tested all...
I just took down an old chandelier. I'm looking to swap it out with a different old fixture, but I am interested in making it as safe as possible.
I attached a picture of the fixture box as it is now and would really appreciate opinions on what needs to be done. At the very least, I feel like...
I am volunteering at a disabled riding school charity and have been been donated a hay steamer that we want to get running. However, the quote we have been given to upgrade the wiring to support it exceeds our funds. I'm trying to find a cheaper way to do it by avoiding changing existing wiring...
I'm a DIY kind of guy, and was never really fond of household 120V/240V power before, until I had a friend who used to be a journeyman help me understand enough to wire up my house we are completely renovating.
So, after putting some walls and trusses in place, and running conduit all day...
I just bought a used Ion Profile Pro turntable with no ground wire. I'm getting hum, and based on my research I think I need to ground it to the receiver. Any suggestions on where to attach the ground wire to the turntable?

Hello,
I have a flat/apartment in a building as described in the subject. I am wondering what to do about the current and additional outlets to have them be safe for kids.

Good morning all,
A 'ground fault' alarm came in over the weekend on the 110V charging system. We have two 110V fans currently running and I am suspecting that one is at fault but I can't turn it off yet to fault find. I say I suspect this as we have had to change them before because of low...
I am a DIY'r. The last house I was in I tore down almost the entire house, room by room, to bare studs. Then rewired, reinsulated, drywalled, etc. We had the power lines buried and ran into a different part of the house when we had our basement replaced. I installed the new breaker box and...
Hi, I'm on vacation in Panama and got a minor electrical shock twice toughing the oven. Strangely now I can't reproduce it.
In the power outlet the tension to ground is 20V against both power cables. Between them it's 112V.
What's wrong with the ground?
Can that be the reason for the shock?
What is common practice when hooking Armoured cable to a weather head. Do I need a aluminum weather head or is a threaded PVC one ok? Do I use a weather head with threads so my teck connector can screw straight in.....do I need ground bushings at both ends?
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
I have a hybrid vehicle, and I've use a Clipper Creek charger to plug it in for the last 2 or 3 years. A few days ago it was fine, and I unplugged to run an errand. When I came home, though, the charger was flashing on both "Power Fault" and "Charging Fault".
After some research, this "usually"...
