Hi all
I have a megger 1552 and when carrying out a Zs on socket outlets using the 13A plug in adapter my measured Zs was higher than my calculated using the No trip setting because of RCDs
i was expecting lower due to resistances in parallel due to bonding
when using this adapter should the...
I have been to survey a job and whilst discussing potential options we discussed a 50 kWp system on a barn and a 3 - 4 kWp system for each commercial unit.
I feel that because each unit has its own meter and has its own user(s) it should be seen as 8 seperate systems all with the higher FiT...
We have a 29.76kw system of REC 240w panels. Feeding 2 x SMA 1500TRL Inverters.
Supply is 3 Phase. Input voltage is around 250v constantly, peaking higher at times (we are positioned close to a new sub station).
Our electricians/installers have had permission, from DNO and SMA, to raise...
I went to look at a hotel today, the first thing is the old boards which have various gaps and 3Ka breakers JB's everywhere, and look at the recorded results !!
Ze 0.02 giving a PEFC reading of 12.4kA which equates correctly; high but acceptable with fitted 100A BS 1361 supply fuse.
However, PSC reading of >50kA. Instrument (Fluke1653B) checks out ok. Any ideas?
Will be contacting supplier when I discover who the supply company is.
I've had 2 instances in the last week where the Zs measured result was higher than I would have expected.
Firstly, a brand new shower feed, R1+R2 of .11ohms, *Ze (measured) of .31.
I would expect a measured Zs of between .35 and .45 for this, yet it was .55ohms.
Then yesterday, connected a new...
Just received a new lab oven that calls for 415V 60HZ 3 phase @ 45KW, the problem is that we only have 120/208Y available to us ( plenty of unused service). Question: Do I source a transformer or look into converting oven to run on 80A 208y?
whilst testing a new build i have wired the phase to phase continuity on a ring main, the resistance was 1.88 and the neutral was .51 . ive taken off every socket and checked all connections but still have the same reading. any suggestions?
I was asked by a client to put up a couple of Chrome bathroom wall fittings, bought from John Lewis. There was no earth terminal, only live and neutral. I rang JL and was told, that most bathroom lights, had no earth, as the cables were double insulated. Yet the shell of the fitting is metal. I...
Hi all
with a heathy ZE ..22 on a TN-s system i had a R1+R2 of .40 oh my suprise to find that the Zs was 1.01at the furthest socketrechecked my ZE.22??
rechecked ZE from out going terminals of RCD .60 has any one else found this
ps i realise that this reading is fine as RCD protected just...
Hi,
This is my first post and hope someone can help.
I have tested a TN-S system and have these readings, I am constantly getting a higher Zs than the Ze+R1+R2.
The Zs is about 0.01 to 0.04 higher than my Ze+R1+R2 readings.
My Ze is 0.14 and PFC 2.1KA.
I have zero'd all 3 leads...
Alright fella's
At the moment i work for HMRC and am about to start my 3rd and final year doing the 2391 course. Hopefully after that register to a competent scheme and start getting some work and build up my experience.
My teacher said last year i should do the HNC course in electrical...
hi guys
am i right in saying that generally the higher the amps the lower the volts ??
watts divided by amps = volts
watts divided by volts = amps
amps x volts = watts
taking that in mind a 12v extra low voltage spot light which is 50 watts = 4.1 amps
240v low voltage 100w bulb = 0.4...
ive just purchesed a new fluke 1653b multi tester when taking a eath fault loop reaqding on loop no trip setting i get a differant readng to when i take a reading on the hi current setting is this meter faulty
can anyone help the readings i get on the same 32a ring socket are
notrip setting...
Hi guys.I want to know which 110 or 220 voltage is better.why some countries such as U.S use 110 and many others use 220?which is more safe?which is harder to produce?and which costs more?
any comments and helps will be appreciated. Thanks
I have a question,
When testing a circuit protected by an RCBO, lets say a type B, in the max permissible column do you put the value from the Regs for the breaker type or 1666 Ohms?
Rang the NIC Tech line and NAPIT's and they both say different.
It's just that if you put the value from the...
