I have been offered a job as an electrician for a heating company, wiring up boilers and heating plans in social housing.
Is it worth doing or is it a soul destroying venture? Has anyone got experience of this work? The contracts are based in the south east outside of London.

Did a bit of testing recently for our local housing association. Found this in a communal area at the front door to a block of flats:
Yep, full of water!
Turned power off and drained:
When water drained battery backup kicked in! (Circuit was protected by 3036 fuse):
Also found this in...
I live on a rural housing estate in Kent where a lot of the housing stock is owned by a social housing company.
This company blanketed the estate with about 120KWP in OCT/NOV 2011. Most of the residents are elderly and have no concept of how they should adapt and change their usage to make the...
Hi, quick question, does anyone know if London and Quadrant housing have their own sparks or sub the work out to big firms or individuals, or if anyone works on their stuff
cheers

Hi chaps,
a while back I picked up a DeWalt SDS.
It's a great bit of kit and even with cheap drill bits, it's not failed to get through anything I've tried it on.
I have noticed that it's been emitting grease from the air vents though... Oil from the chuck is understandable on an SDS, but...
New build housing project in the middle of a very hot summer (anyone remember both those things?) so everything is bone dry. One of your colleagues did the first and second fix so you have the job of testing IR is down just under 2 meg.
Discuss.
Hi all
I'm trying to gather evidence of good practice by large social housing providers in using the likes of Amtech etc for recording either void tests or EICRs .
So if anyone knows of examples where councils, Housing associations etc are insisting on certain software or have developed their...

Hi, does anyone have a source (legal) for a housing similar to the ones used by the supply provider (Scottish Power) I occasionally need to install a RCD in line with the CU and can only find the Hager 2 module unit which is a pain to fit the 25mm tails?
One of my regular Customers: a landlord, has had a letter today from his LA, stating that he must have RCDs in all his Rental houses.
Very limited information received, but I am waiting for a copy of said letter.
What I am wondering is is there a legal requirement to have RCDs installed into...

I have a quick question. I was at a house the other day and the householder had hit the consumer unit and broken the casing. Now if they wanted the casing only to be replaced what is the responsibility of the electrician?
