Hello all,
My customer has high ceilings in her workshop/office, 3.5m high. She is pretty exact in what she wants and would like uniformity with the other LED GU10/MR16 that she has.
She has asked for some GU10's that can be lowered by up to about 2m from the ceiling. I have seen plenty of...
Morning all..
Heading off to work very shortly so any ideas over the next hour greatly appreciated :-)
I have a 60m drum of swa that wont fit on my normal spooler. Any clever ideas for a make shift one for the day? Something involving a broom handle I expect :-)
Bit random and irrelevant, but I’m wanting to get a tattoo sleeve electrician themed. Just wanting some ideas. Don’t want like 13a sockets and lamps on my arm though lol. So far I’ve got;
High voltage sign
Lightning
Circuit board
Plasma ball
Electricity atom structure
Ohms law
Earth symbol
Evening,
Visited a site today for an external lighting fault, bollards to be specific.
The circuit contains six bollards and a contactor brought in via a photocell.
Bollards sited around a mill conversion 4 to the front and 2 to the rear.
Protected by a 6A mem rcbo
They rcbo trips whenever...
Hi all , i love these forums , full of semi like minded guys with different opinions etc, so thank you
what I'm after is a course that can be mainly undertaken in my own time and not need to sit in a class room , that will possibly actually have some value with commercial type work

Hi;
I've just started studying to become an electrician. Although I am offered 6 weeks worth of practical experience, I'm wondering how I can get more experience while I'm studying. Prefably paid experience.
I'm not studying through a college but through a company called train4jobs.
Any ideas?
2 wires have broken off leaving 2 still connected.. it is in a switch for a table saw.

Hi everyone.
Wondering if anyone has any ideas on this?
Last night I got in from work and my board had tripped.
Tried resetting main breaker (no good)
To cut a long story short I narrowed it down to the ring main (only one ring main for whole house), turned out I had a broken live which...
So my son has a hive controller and while it appears to say system is on the boiler does not switch on. Sometime later, maybe an hour the boiler switches on. Any ideas ? It is a potterton boiler quite old and the hive has been tacked on, perhaps wrongly. Anyone in the Farnham Surrey area that...

I have a '17 Eldiss motorhome based on a Peugeot Boxer and have a strange warning light coming on on the dash. It's the orange triangle , which according to Peugeot is a general light failure warning. The light comes on when I select reverse and then stays on until I restart the M/H and is...

Hi all,
Customer reports sporadic nuisance tripping of RCD. I cannot reproduce it, or fault anything, except SOMETIMES on EFLI test it trips the RCD (megger mft 1553 'no trip' test).
I'm out of ideas here, can anyone help? This is what I've got:
- TT installation (small domestic);
- 30mA RCCB...
Hi all,
Well, this one is interesting and I have absolutely no idea what could be causing this.
Just added a PIR to a lighting circuit, very simple, disconnect the lamp and move the feed cables to feed a PIR and then onto the lamp itself. Nice straightforward.
Doing my testing for the minor...
We had one of our guys on site checking a 10 or so year old system today (not ours). It is set up as two single phase SMA inverters, on two separate phases of a three phase supply. Both inverters have the following error "VAC BER Disturbance" which is a high grid voltage error.
When testing...
Just got involved in an Art school that wants a CRI of 95 in some areas and other colour renderings on movable lights perhaps on catenary or maybe scaffold arrangement. I am keen to get involved in this project as I am interested in lighting (I love it!) Thinking of LED products initially. So...
Anyone got any brilliant ideas for a over sink water heater for pretty demanding washing up environment? Could be under sink I suppose. Actually doesn't need to be brilliant could be just a good recommendation.
I have been doing some work for a friend of mine and he has an old wooden indicator box with 6 flags in it for various rooms and an indicator for the main door to the house.
The relatively new bell wire that was put in by the electrician that rewired the place (not me) is all fine, I have...
