A mate just moved into a flat and has asked me to sort out a few things with the electrics, mainly convert some single sockets to doubles.
Unfortunately for me, everything has been run in singles in metal conduit without a CPC.
Need to get hold of some backing boxes with the appropriate sized...

Hi again chaps,
As I said on another thread, I'm trying to pinpoint a dead short in a lighting circuit (happened 2 minutes after running the heating, so I'm fairly sure it's a cable sitting on a hot pipe).
Getting a continuity reading of about 16 ohms between the line and neutral so now trying...

My cooker cable is 7/0.44 for the live and 7/0.36 for the cpc. Does anyone have the current carrying capacity for this cable?
Also is this the correct formula to find...
Hi, newbie here. I'm looking at imperial red and black from the cutout to the meter. Can't access the ends of the cable to measure the strands. The diameter of the cable is 9mm. Can anyone guide me on what the most likely imperial size was (e.g. 7/052?) Many thanks! SW
Working on a flat which has the ring run in old imperial sized metal conduit. The earth is via the conduit but at some point the single sockets have been changed to doubles and the male brass bushes have not been replaced hence no earth on the ring. Anyway, a long way of asking if anyone knows...
Can anyone tell me the size of the front fixings on old size imperial conduit box.
20mm besa boxes use M4 screws but I have to use the conduit as the CPC and therefore I need to get some of the old size screws as it is all imperial.
Any ideas?
Cheers
