Morning,
Is it still permissible to have fixed wiring in a factory inspected by an external company every 5 years?
I have the company who we used last time hassling me saying its due, but are very vague on saying what 'due' means.
Life was simple back in the day, raising a family and living in a shack. Then they invented electricity and people found life more exciting with a whole new way to die.
Electricity was and is dangerous and in May 1882 the first rules and regulations were made protecting people from shock, fire...
Been on thr 2391-52 course this week. I'm really enjoying it and keeping up with the material.
However the tutor was painting a scenario and it got us all in a heated debate.
The scenario was something along the lines off "next door neighbor has asked for you to install a new shower circuit...
I have some 20mm black pvc conduit fitted outside for data cables. Should the inspection covers on the inspection bends and elbows be on top or underneath to be waterproof?
Hi,
My first post so please go gentle on me!
I had an Inspection Report (EICR) completed on my house a week a go. It failed on two items:
1) Gap at the back of sockets in the utility (which I knew about, I meant to screw these down, but I only put them up loosely as I knew I had to take them...

I recently bought one of these from B&M. At just £2.99 it's proved to be a real bargain. Great for when you've cut a hole in a newly plastered ceiling only to find that the wiring for the downlight you installed the previous week isn't where it should be because Pete the plasterer has moved it...
recently a contractor offered a client a EICR combined with a yearly inspection for the next year. The yearly inspection was a third of the price of the EICR. What do you think the yearly inspection consists of? It's a commercial installation
Experts opinion required.
Ask to add some addition fittings to a lighting circuit within a shop. Opened up the consumer unit to access the circuit. And noticed the tails from the service head to the meter and from the meter to the consumer unit look very suspicious. I have experience with...

Hi Guys,
I've been asked to inspect and cert existing smoke detectors in a rental.

I've not come across these before, I found them for sale on NIC store but can't see what it entails.
What tests and equipment are needed different than the...
Hi guys,
Just wondering the amount of time you would expect an inspection and test to take. I've just started at another firm and I'm wanting to gauge whether I'm the slowest tester in the land or if they at taking the Mick with the time allowed.
For instance how long would you...
A recent customer said he would be getting a test of his nice old cottage electrics through cover he has taken out. I had previously mentioned a good MOT of his installation is via a full inspection & test and would take me a good day. When I returned a couple of weeks later I was informed it...
Hello all,
