Hi everyone,
I need to self test my 17th edition test instrument on a regular basis to make sure results are accurate.need to do continuity check on low ohm and high ohm resistors also ins res check on low ohm and high ohm resistors.
Please could i have some advice on what resistors i need to...
Probably a noddy question but here goes. When testing earth fault loop impedance do you first have to null the test instrument. If the answer is yes are there any practical tips when nulling the types of test leads that incorporate a 3 pin plug for testing socket outlets?
hi all
i have a doubt regarding protective earth and instrument earth .i had a screen cable which is terminated inside jb and from there that 4 sq mm wire going back to the instrument earth bar, there is one more protective earth lug which is present in equipment where should i terminate that...

hi,
I am trying to install some VEGAPULS63 radars on the top of some vessels on site. I am having difficulty in programming the radar's before i put them in position. Has anyone used Pactware 4.0? I've looked online, and it doesnt seem very clear. I appreciate this is more suited to an...
Hey guys, iv just bought a alphatek multi easitest tester, i previously used the megger 1552, but anyway! with this new easi tester I am confused on how to perform a ZE reading, it has the settings " trip - lock " and Loop PSC, L-E and loop PSC L - N, What is the trip lock function it has no...
Can anyone recommend a reasonably priced SPL that complies with BS EN 61672 that can be used for testing smoke and heat alarms?
I'm struggling to find something that is well priced for an infrequent use but still complies.
Thanks
Hi Everybody,
I've got my NICEIC assesment next week and i am trying to put together my own instrument check box, with resistors in thtats able to test continuity and resistance. PLEASE can anyone help in this quest, where do i start?
Thanks
state three methods for checking the accuracy of test equiptment.
calibration
check box
check against someone elses meter
can you think of anymore ?
If an instrument is found to be inacurate after tests have been completed list three ations which should be taken
what would be your...
The value of Ze on a TNS system useing an earth loop impedance test Instrument
list the steps in the procedure and the reasons for each step, I think this is right ?
1.Select appropriate test Instrument - It needs to be able to read Ze (low ohms resitance metere ?)
2. Perform safety check (...
I have a 4 month old fluke multifunction tester, used fairly lightly.
I am beginning to think about its maintenance re its calibration and accuracy. I wonder if someone could give me an idea of a suitable maintenance and checking regime that i could use ? cheers
Hi,
I am fairly new to all this so please bare with me. I have been up till now using a 2 probe megger. I have now purchased a 3 probe Kewtech KT62. Can anyone please inform me what test use 3 leads and when I join the 3 to become 2 etc. It does not say in the Kewtech manual! (specifically...
Hi,
I have a my am2 practical testing exam next week and I'm confused about the earth loop impedance test.
The centre use a three lead instrument, I just want to know if this is right.
Connect the third lead to the neutral bar, and connect one lead to the earth bar
Then measure over the...
I have a dilog multi test when filling out test sheets i know you are supposed to write in the serial numberbut it has none.Does anyone with one know what to fill in here?Do i just write model number?
Not long now 2 weeks Thurs, got most stuff sorted out and ready. Just few odd questions keep springing up:
1/ Will I need to lock off supply whilst doing dead test, put up sign etc?
2/ Will I need to prove that the supply is dead with an approved test lamp as well as my megger mft1552?
3/...
what is the recommended life of a calibration for megger test equipment, not had mine tested since new and wondered how long is acceptable before having them re-calibrated?
Using a low ohm meter (or multimeter)Is it possible to place 1 probe on the incomming earth at the CU and the other probe on (disconnected) earth rod to get the resistance of the rod (minus the external earth path which forms part of the Ze, wander leads etc). I know its not the correct...
