I got some free fittings from an office clear out recently and was thinking of using them in my small office. My question is will they be ok for use? One of the twin ones says to only use one tube but I really want two in there. Is there any obvious reason why the sticker should be on there as...
Was looking at a job for a customer who wants existing lighting replaced. Like for like replacement.
It's a TT system an I've noticed there is no rcd protection! Customer said there was an rcd at a time but got another spark to replace it with a main switch because it kept tripping when a steam...
Hi, I have 20 Thorlux Prismalux fittings available, new, but in somewhat tatty / dusty boxes from storage. They have control gear for 125W MBF lamps fitted but this could be removed so they can be used with standard ES lamps, or it could be replaced with (eg) sodium gear - I think I also have 3...
Can any one recommend a good light fitting like the Somar Eluma. A current project I'm looking at is to replace 175 x 400w metal halide high bay fittings in a warehouse. The somar Eluma has a programable sensor that detects presence and day light and switches/dims accordingly it also has an...
Hi all,
Long time no speak.
I've not fitted these (Red Arrow LFB55A modular light fittings) before and am new to this type of lighting.
I've received a whole lot of the Red Arrow LFB55A lights for an office refurb and have noticed that despite being the same model number, they're different...
I think we all know just how much a pain fitting fancy light fittings that home owners have bought, "and could you pop around and fit them for me"
A friend of mine had been burgled recently, and a right mess the scrots made of it, she had bought these fittings from a large very posh kitchen...
I have for sale the following light fittings:
3 x 6ft Hispec IP 65 Rated, Emergency, Single Fluorescent Light Fitting
2 x Hispec Emergency LED Bulkheads (Maintained or Non Maintained)
1 x 4ft Fluorescent Light Fitting (Non Emergency)

Hi all,
i've heard that if you have say a four bulb light fitting and you leave one or multiple bulbs out this can cause the bulbs that are there to fail early because they draw more current. Is there any truth in this? Don't they draw a constant current no matter how many bulbs there are? I'm...
Been to a job today to install 2 huge blinglight light fittings that look very expensive, not the kind you see in B&q etc.
First light installed with no problems, glad to get it up om the ceiling because it looked like the slightest wrong move and something would break or fall off.
The second...
My customer today gave me three metal light fittings to install as replacements for existing roses. One had four heavy spot lamp housings for GU10's. Lesson learned, I have decided that next time I have one of these jobs I will rig up some kind of support wire from a screw in a joist to hold...
We've recently bought a new place, and there are 2 wall lights in symmetrical alcoves which we'd like to replace
However on closer inspection i was pleased to find that the 2 lights are offset by about 10cm vertically (not so symmetrical, argh!)
What i'd like to do is fit some new lights but...
Hi Guys
I'm often asked to replace a standard pendant fitting with a flush fitting having no compartment for connecting loop in/out and switch wires.
Apart from buying a fitting with said compartment, the obvious solution for me is to fit a 'Round 35mm Deep Dry Lining Box' in the ceiling first...
Went to house today. Rewired just 6 months ago. Tt - no rcd, ze 203. Low ceilings wanted metal light fittings added. 8 way consumer unit circuits tripled up in mcb. I said you need to get this sorted first. Contact the installer. Sorry but i'm not fitting the metal light fit tings which even a...
Hi folks, hope you all are well.
I've been asked to replace 3x battens fittings (6ft) to smaller fittings (4ft) in a office.
I reckon I can get them all fitted in 1.5 hours easily.
How much would you charge? Job is in Oldham. The location is only 8 minutes drive.
Thank you.
Hi
Can anyone suggest what type of light fittings are best suited to illuminate a flat roof skylight.
Customer has had a skylight fitted on a flat roof and at night just looks like a black hole in the ceiling
which she wants illuminated. Presumably some form of up lighters could be used but...
Hi all. I'm facing a little problem. We have fitted some light fittings that prefer type D mcbs (manufacturer said type c probably ok, but they are tripping). Unfortunately Hager do not make a type D breaker for my 17th ed CU. any ideas how to overcome the issue?
thanks
Hi,
Lighting circuit trips the RCD.
took out all the lamps and it holds. Put any lamp back into any light on the circuit and it trips. All but one of the light fittings on the circuit are Class 1.
Any advice gratefully received
hog
they are the moden HF type with electronic ballast, they have hooks to be used for hanging on a chain but you can fix to the ceilings if needed too.
May require bit of dusting but otherwise in good working condition.
I have 14 of them complete - £20 each
and 4 of them missing plastic bits on...
Alreet chaps.
Quoting for a rewire....again! It is to be a rental property and the client has asked for pretty basic stuff, left the majority of the decisions up to me bar 2 locations where they have specified spot lights.
They have just said they want cheap standard light fittings in every...
