Hello, can someone explain to me the 'rule of thumb figure' (0.8) when calculating max Zs value's from BS7671!?
Currently doing a PIR in a foundry where i measured the ambient temperature at 21 degrees at ground level, i bet you can add another 10 degree's higher up ...and that's on a good day...
Hello all

I'm sure Tony Cable is a good electrician but when it came to the section on Maximum Demand he measured it with a clampmeter around the Line Tail and shouted "...
Anybody got an EXCEL spreadsheet to calculate the est. approx AMPAGE of the RING CIRCUIT socket wire from just the following?:
~ SKT WIRE lengths from skt to skt, and last skt to fusebox
~ MAXIMUM AMPAGE of each skt
Eg:
Skt A to B = 10M's
Skt B to C = 5M's
Skt C to D = 3M's
Skt D to A =...

Hi there doin project and stuck on one of the questions help would be appreciated. For maximum demand applying diversity for this Twelve 0.5kw 3 phase induction motors for car ramps each having a power factor of 0.8. efficiency 95%
When calculating the maximum demand say for a 3 bedroom house if you cannot use diversity for a 9.5 KW shower how can you keep the total with all other circuits to under 100 Amps? Am I misunderstanding something?
Hey guys. Just wondering why it's necessary to calculate maximum demand of the installation when filling out electrical installation certificates when installing a PV system? Because your inverter isn't really an additional load on the supply because it's feeding power in?
Thanks

Looking through the BRB and OSG regarding Max Zs (table 41.3), would these figures now only be applicable for circuits that do not require an RCD?
Table 41.5 gives max Zs for 30mA RCD as being 1667 ohms
Hello,
Relating to a house/domestic installation, is there a maximum length for 25mm meter tails? I have got it into my head (old age creeping in!) that it is a metre - need confirmation/advice about this from any kind souls watching. Thank you, from member's first posting.:o
