Hi,
I am in my last year of City and guilds c2330 Level 3, busy doing some test papers. Stuck on a question stating show a simple diagram how the resistance of an earth electrode could be measured using an ELI Tester.
Never done this before, looked every where for this, What is an ELI tester and...
Hi Guys,
I've just swapped over to a Fluke 1654B MFT and I have a question about measuring the Re using the loop test function.
Anyway, on the full caffeine loop test there is a little button where you can toggle the lower display to swap between PEFC measurement and the Re element of the Ze...

I am still in the training process. I have one question if anyone can help thatll be great.
My question is when carrying out continuity test on a radial circuit I know we have to link. When linking can we just link between the main Earthing terminal and circuit breaker? or does it have to be the...

hi everyone
been reading this forum for a year now and this is my first question i just hope i am doing this right.
on TT earthing we have one box for RA and one for ZE, what box do we use.
I know we bond pipe work with earth clamps and 4.0mm earth cable. But does anyone know why some people coil up the earth conductor, making it look like a spring? Instead of just putting a small length from A to B without making it go round and round an imaginary loo roll?

Am testing a lot of tubular heater circuits in a church. All circuits supplied with MICC, which runs to SFUs then via short length of heat-resistant flex to the tubular heaters. Have tested approx 40 SFUs/heaters so far without problem - R1+R2 (dead), IR (dead), then Zs (live) on each one...
Can the Fluke T5 1000 measure DC current via the jaws? I know it'll measure AC but I'm looking at different sites via my phone and can't ascertain whether it does DC.
Also, what do you think of it if you have one?

Hello i havent done much testing before so i am trying to brush up on my Testing skills before i join Elecsa, i have a couple of questions about R2 testing please.
I understand how to carry out R1 R2 tests using method 1 and that we do them to calculate the Zs of our circuit Zs=Ze+R1+R2
But i...

Calipers? One of those cards with holes in? Or something else?
I know in the end I'll get to tell what is what by sight and feel but need something to help me in the meantime, especially with larger live conductors and earth bonding etc
Sorry Lads and Lasses,
I know this has been discussed many times throughout this forum and other websites but I just can’t get my head round the testing of a 3 phase supply connected to a 3 phase isolator and a DOL starter/motor. There could also be a 3 phase socket.
After finding many solutions...
testing an installation(that we have just finished) where the client want to choose a few circuits and check it against the test sheets, Now the circuits are 3- 240mm single core cables in parrallel (24 in total in a data centre) I have tested r1+r2 with 3 different fluke multi function testers...
What's your favourite tape measure and why? I've just had my bahco stainless steel reversible pinched by some scroat, and I can't find anywhere to buy a new one! So I was looking about and all I can see is fatmax this and fatmax that!
Hi there, I've not posted much before but been reading old threads and picking up advice from this forum for a while - most problems I've come across somebody else has already asked and been answered.
I've got my NIC assessment this week and now starting to brick it.
Simple question - how do I...
Hi I am trying to test a 5W metal oxide resistor on a pcb board and the person have told me it should read 1R or 1R2.
How do I measure that on a meter?
Thanks
Sorry in advance for what may be a daft student question. Where should I measure my Ze? My mum has a TNCS system with the meter/incoming supply at one end of her bungalow. The CU is some distance away (I guess around 15m) and connected via T&E. Do I attempt to measure Ze at the incoming or at...
