I have a customer who has installed a second empty meter cabinet for a consumer unit to feed several garden circuits. Can a standard metal csu be fitted in here, does it have to be in an ip65 enclosure also or can a ip65 plastic csu be used.
I get csu has to be non combustible within a dwelling...
I have seen a few metal back boxes that have no earth terminal lug. Do the regs state the metal back box must have an earth wire to it? The earth on the socket/FCU is earthed to the backbox via the socket faceplate securing screws.
Hi . Im running some conduit , a long horizontal with metal clad boxes , with vertical runs to a term box for light fittings and a couple of smoke alarms . Was going to use 4 way boxes dropping down to the sockets and up to the light s. Is it acceptable to run them through the metal clad boxes...
I'm located on the East side of the Big Island, Hawaii. Due to the copious amounts of rain and the ever-present Sulphur gas from Kilauea Volcano which ranges from virtually imperceptible to close the doors and windows and wait till the wind changes direction. I've purchased a Steel Master metal...
The attached diagram shows how a 20ft metal container is currently wired. All swa (2.5mm 3c) is buried under new tarmac drive.
My questions is how can I ensure this is safe with no way of getting any new cables back to the house.

I recently learned the importance of electrical grounding and checked all appliances in my home.
Toaster, Microwave oven have 3 prong power cord, so their metal casing would not cause any shock if the device has worn out connection inside. Some others like fans on the floor have only 2 prong and...
I’ve been changing some sockets and the last one won’t tighten. They have used 75mm screws. The screw just slides into the lug. I’ve got a CK 3.5mm tap and tried that. Still no luck. Has anyone any tips or tricks? Or any screws that I could buy to make it tighter in the lug?

Posting this more as a discussion than seeking advice, as I've already fixed the issue.
