So the powers that be have decided that it's too late to include an isolator within the new smart meter, great!
A perfect opportunity to provide solution to an ongoing problem wasted! What's the point???
My money's also on the chances that when the part p consultations come out it will be...

Thoughts on this please. I would normally always fit an isolator within 2 meters of a hob.
But this is a first where I haven't done so.
Its at just over 3 meters - reason being :
There is a LED/light panel splash back which goes all round above the worktops, so wasn't...
-What is the longest cable run u have done from the sunnyboy1200 to the main fuse board, its says max cable 2.5mm2 no longer then 30 metres. What happens if go 25 metres to a 30amp junction box and from the junction box put 4mm2 cable running 30 meters to the main fuse board. How would this...
just a thought, i have been using some maxi trunking to suply cu going verticaly down the wall was wondering how far verticaly can you go with trunking before you need to support cables? also how do you judge how many cables to put in?
I have just had the dreaded call from the repairers saying that my Metrel tester is knackered as it was dropped last week! The cost to repair it is about £100 short of a new one and they only give a 3 month warranty on the repair. I think I want a new one as I may be able to get an extended...
hi a newbie here, i have been asked to quote to install landlords electric meters in my local area, but i have no experience in this. I'm guessing its the coin opperated type, and i dont suppose they are dificult to install, but i'm unsure as to weather i can just go ahead and install, or would...

Supply is TP&N. It has a single Meter feeding a bunch of stuff and a few fuse boards (next to the meter).
The customer is converting the house into 4 flats each with it's own meter...

We are quoting our first small off grid solar project which I am really keen to get. A couple of questions though...
I understand the client can claim the generation part of the FIT, but what is the current rate for off grid?
Is an EPC needed? There is no mains supply obviously, and no heating...
can anyone help me im sitting my 2330 level 3 in a few weeks and been going over some past papers and found a question on conduit capacity, which if i use all the factors etc, the length was 12 meters, the table in the onsite guide only goes up to 10 meters, what would i then need to do?
Anyone know what the best metering setup is for a system of 250kW? Doing the G59/2 application and Looking at using 2 x inverters with a peak AC output of 122A/phase and 2 x inverters with a 46A peak ouput/phase. Should I meter each of the big one seperately on dedicated circuits and then meter...
Hi
We have a customer interested in solar pv on a park home site. The customer pays for the electricity that they use to the park home site. I believe there are several meters at the park home that show what each park home has used. Is it possible to install pv on a park home (grid connected)...
Going to invest in a clamp meter, nothing really flash needed, thinking of the basic Kewtech KT200.
Any reasons for or against this model ?
What do people use as their fave?
Had a long call with a FiTs guy at SSE this afternoon.
They (and I'm guessing all other suppliers too) are going through all their FiTs systems that are registered with export meters and checking that they have MPANs for the export meters. They believe that an OFGEM audit on them will be...
