Greetings,
Is this allowed?
It would appear from BS7671(17th) that the installation reference number is 8 or 9 with a reference method 'B' for determining the current carrying capacity of the cable. However, the anomaly is that table 4D5 doesn't include a column for method 'B'.
Can anyone...
Hi guys,
I can not decide to fail this or not:
6mm t&e in domestic environment, cables in mini trunking, on a 40a MCB
I would use 10mm of course, but am seeing this in many flats so is it acceptable or its a fail on the EICR?
Tank you!
was asked this question the other day :-If cables are run in pvc trunking under fibre glass in a loft would the Reference method change ie from B (trunking on a wall) to possibly A (in a thermally insulated wall)?
if not , what reference method would you go for ?
Existing cables in the loft...
On a standard hall & landing 2 way circuit (i.e both switched from either location), does everyone prefer using the 3 core method, with each light being fed by the appropriate circuit (i.e upstairs / downstairs) - are any other methods in current use?

Hi every one,
Im new to this forum. FNG!. A simple question that I cant seem to find the answer to is can I run TnE in steel conduit? I know singles would be the best option but the customer has lots of TnE and wants to keep the cost down. I would strip out the cable but I dont have enough...
Dear colleagues,
does anyone have experience fitting a PV system to an insulated Kingspan roof?
Would like to fix the system to the steel purlins below, however:
1 - how do I locate the purlins below the roof cladding and insulation
2 - which brand and type of racking can I use?
Thanks!
Hi,
The attached is the underside of a roof where you can see planks of wood upon which plain tiles sit. The tile pegs just fit between the planks.
Can anyone advise me of a good way of fixing the roof mounting system to this roof please i.e. What roof anchors ?
Thanks
Gents,
I'm applying for CEng through the CIBSE TRR route, my chosen subject determining maximum demands within commercial properties. I've been reading through some of the previous threads concerning manximum demand calculations and note almost everybody has a completely different approach...
Hi.
The PV array I'm considering will be fitted to our recently-built garage roof. It has real slate (Spanish, I think), 600mmx300mm (I think - I can confirm tomorrow...), each fixed with two nails.
Some of the potential installers who came out to quote have warned against using certain fixing...

I was looking at one of these to upgrade an existing fan. It is installed in conjunction with a double pole fused spur isolator. The timer control takes a permanent live and a switched live. So if the double pole switch is off and the bathroom light is still on then the fan timer unit unit still...

Had a look at a job the other day, client has brought a MK RCD Garage CU and wants it connected up.
Supply is TNC-S with a 100mA RCCB protecting a BS1361 fuse board which has MCB's
Option 1. Replace the RCCB with a time delayed RCD and connect garage CU to new RCD
Option 2. Henley block the...
Right, as I'm a bit of a 2-gang dimmer myself at the moment, I thought I'd post this here to help get my head around it.
I've come across a 2-gang dimmer (push on/off) which replaced a standard 2-gang switch, one switch controlling hall lights (circuit 1 on the pic), the other controlling...

Hi
I am about to start my first installation and I am thinking about how to run dc cables from the modules into say. . a roof void. I think I would ok with a 20/25 mm plastic conduit through the soffet and into the roof space that way, but I have reservations about the cable/conduit lasting 25...
