Morning all,
Have fitted a light at the bottom of a garden on the gate post, its a G9 capsule lamp, anyway the customer keeps "closing" the gate and the lamp keeps blowing.
would i be right in thinking when he is "closing" the gate, the vibrations are blowing the lamp? if so is there any other...

Hi i have completed some testing units in my on site folder but have since been laid off and was wondering if anybody would be able to send me an image of a domestic installation test results page and a minor work for lighting and one for a power circut thanks scott
We've got a customer who is losing 10% from the inverter to the generation meter and I can't for the life of me think why? The cable is 4mm and runs 20m, we're going to upgrade that to 6mm which will reduce the loss a bit but where is the rest going?
Any ideas??
Got called out to a tripped RCD yesterday, opened up the consumer unit and...
What, no CPCs anywhere, in any circuit?!
Closer inspection revealed that the whole house is built with singles in metal conduit providing the earthing, and Zs readings are satisfactory, but still a bit of a...
Hi all,
I'm straying over from the plumbers forum today.
I'm putting in a new ceiling and some downlights in kitchen. However, while taking out the old light and putting in the new, something funny has happened in the utility (the next and final room in the circuit).
I have drawn a quick...
Hey guys got my anual inspection and seemed to have misplaced my documentation on the following:
*Memorandum of Guidance on the Electricity at Work
Regulations
* Approved Document P
Does anyone know where i can tain the above documents. Thanks in advance.
This week, I finally decided to get on with rejuvenating the supply to my garage. This was in place when we moved in and, in all honesty (and on the face of it) is not a bad job. Notwithstanding this, I do probably put more demand on the circuit than the original installer probably intended, so...

Have any of you had any experience of an MCS notification not going through or going missing?
I did one for my second job. I am certain I did everything correctly, checking everything. I've done many notifications in the past- hundreds, before i set up my own company and never once had one not...
Just bought a house that had gas and electric disconnected. The electric was disconnected by having the main service fuse pulled. What do I need to do to get the local elec company to replace? Is there a cost for this, and do I need any electrician to arrange this?
having just done my Part P (level b) . I ran a earth loop test in my property. I found that the Zs was 75 Ohms. After looking at the incomming supply and finding the main earth wire attached just to a screw in the casing I presumed that either there was on incoming earth or that the casing its...
Hey all, had an annoying fault today which has occurred apparently out of the blue...some display cabinet / shelf efforts with a mix of fluorescent back lighting behind white perspex sheets and some overhead 12V halogen G6.35's capsule lamps have gone out randomly upon stripping the shelves and...
We went to a job the other day where a customer was complaining about recieving shocks from her taps. This is what we found:
To top it off, she explained that she had that CU put in only a couple of years ago by a man called John Smith! I couldn't help but laugh!
What's missing here guys? :D
Many electricians are missing out on the PV industry because they are not MCS certified. It is expensive and there is a lot of red tape. H2 Solar Shop have teamed up with a certified installer who has agreed to inspect and certify installations across the country. This will be at a discounted...
Hi All,
Currently sorting out a system for a customer and I have noticed the following.
Current set up is one dish with a quad / LNB feeding two Satelite digi boxes one a Sky + with 2 feeds and the other a Panasonic Digibox which only has a single LNB input. Anyway I have noticed that in the...
Hi There. I have been wiring an extension/granny annex, anyway this is not connected to what im about to ask as its seperate to the exsisting electrics of the house.
Whilst there the customer asked me to replace the two exsisiting metal light fixtures within the old part of the house. I said I...
Hi,
I am newly qualified and would very much appreciate some advice on this. I few days ago I've purchased one of those low noise bathroom extractor fans with a timer and humidity sensor and run a three core cable from it to the loft which I was planning to connect to the 3 pole isolator.
Once...
