I have a 3 phase AC motor that I have hooked up in low voltage it is supposed to connect to a 120v input 3phase 230v output speed controller I just don’t know how to hook it up. I think I have it right and will post some pictures down below but I would like to double check before I plug it in.
Good evening,
1) Is the motor current on the nameplate always the full load current: the maximum current the motor can draw without there being damage to its winding insulation.
2) Often in motor books, I see the term nominal current? is this the current that the motor draws under normal...
Hi.
I found two single phase 110 Vac asynchronous motors (fans) connected in series to a 220 Vac line, something like this:
live 220 Vac ----------- 110 Vac motor -------------- 110 Vac motor ---------------------neutral 220 Vac
Is there any problems with this connection? the motors are...
I have an old DeWalt 721 Radial Arm saw that recently stopped working. Initially I thought this was because one of the Start / Stop buttons disintegrated (came unscrewed) and spread its workings all over the floor. I subsequently changed both the switches like for like. (Rafi 1.10001)...
I have a small motor that I use to sharpen my kitchen knives, this has like a capacitor, is for 2 wires, but dont have signs where the blue wire go and where the red wire go, this motor starts and soon it stops, how to test it, i have 2 images,
We have got a hydraulic motor/powerpack for leveling legs of a trailer. However this trailer is running off a 15KW inverter, so the motor needs to run off single phase.
The motor has come configured for 3 phase, however the motor plate does say it will run off single phase.
Would i be right in...
Hi there, i will be on a job soon that requires two motors to control a belt that delivers grain to the opposite end of a grain shed these motors need to run simultaneously. this is due to the length of the shed which id say is 72 meters one motor at the start of the belt and another 72 meters...
HI Guys,
I bought this motor and speed controller used and tried wiring as per the diagram on the side of the speed control unit but the motor will not turn on. I am running it at 220v, when plugged in I do see the green led light up. There is not much info on the internet. But I was able to...
Hi I have a 3 phase 400v motor wired in star configuration it is controlled via a 3 pole 415v coil contactor which is switched simply via a stay put stop ... In for off Out for run.. ( Spanish design ) there is also a single phase fan connected between one phase and the star point of the motor...
Hello! I have a high-pressure compressor equipped with a single phase motor! The motor have 2 capacitors, 1 continuous and 1 for starting, with a relay for isolation . The motor is old, but it's still working! I have changed the capacitors with new ones and the cable too. The motor work ok! I...
Would you consider a single phase Shower Pump Motor operating with a temperature high enough to burn finger tips touching the motor body, to be too high.
Shower pump stopped during shower, checked various things. Fuse ok etc. Although the motor as said by the manufacture to have thermal...
Hi there. I have a motor that used to be attached to a milling machine, then it wasn't, then all the bits got lost, now I'd like to reconnect it but I'll have to wire it up again.
I'm perfectly happy with the wiring and logic, but I have no idea how to spec a controller. It's an x feed motor...
Hey, newbie here.
I'm very experienced DIY, but just got into 3 phase motors this year. I bought several 3p motors at auction ranging from 0.5 to 5hp. Bought and configured a VFD to be able to test them, but mainly to run my lathe.
The VFD works fine on most of the motors. I've run across 2...
I have owned a kirby for the last 10 years and love it. Iv replaced a few parts in the past as they are generally maintenance friendly. However, the machine started making a strange rattling noise the other day. Took it apart and noticed the commutator is missing a tooth and look very warn. I'm...
Hello all, I recently was asked to quote a three phase motor install within a pallet factory. To be honest, I was somewhat stumped in how to attack it as the sheer size and the control cabinet was gigantic. Although I'm mainly a domestic, commercial spark, this was somewhat out of my league. The...
The local Men's Shed has some machine tools, all 1 phase, typically 1 KW, ~~ 20 years
old. A member asked me to see if I could make them run at variable speed. At present
you can only change speeds by moving a belt from one pulley to another, which is
inconvenient. I found some variable speed...
Hi.
I want to control a TV Lift from a home automation system. Its hasn't got any standard way of doing this and the person setting the home automation needs to know just a few things to get it working.
Ive had an electrician look at the control box and motor, he's figured out that the...
When testing a DOL motor is the best method to disconnect the cables from MCB to DOL and connector block them.
Then disconnect cables from DOL to Motor and connector block them and then IR both set of cables.
Or would switching the isolator off and test from MCB to DOL then DOL to Motor without...
Hi all. I'm looking to build myself a rig with a small single phase motor and learn a bit more about motor controls etc. I mostly do domestic and some commercial but haven't much experience with motor controls. I always looks at ways to improve myself and my electrical knowledge. Most DOL...
