    Motors

I know little about motors, but ive just been told by a guy that i used to work with that if one of the phases is down on a 3-phase motor, you can link it out to a working phase inside the motor and the motor will run at half speed... This dosent sound right to me but like i said ive not really...

    overheating motors

Can a motor overheat and short to earth if it is having to work to hard? There is no overload but the motor is protected by thermistors and a thermistor relay which cuts out on occasions. Its an intermittent fault but the Engineers that have watched the circuit say it trips the Main C/B. On a...

quick rule of thumb, 3 phase current

now this is not exact, but comes close. say you have a 3 phase, 400v motor, given the kW, to get an approx. value for the current per phase, (can be done in your head), just multiply the kW x 1.5. e.g. a 20kW motor. I = 30A. ( not allowing for efficiency, pf etc. ) just to give a rough idea.

3 Phase Motors & Control Gear

I am wiring 3 3 phase motors, 1.1 KW each via 3 STOP/START manual starters. If one starter locks out for any reason, the others also need to close down simultaneously.
