I'm fitting one of the Apex 7S units on Friday.
I'd avoided the original range after a couple of bad experiences but I figured a new model might be better.
I thought I'd list some differences I've noticed so far when compared to the original range:
1 - Even though the connections looks the...
Hi, Hoping someone can clarify for me. I've recently moved into a rental property, the landlord had new electric radiators installed and a new consumer unit. Would this require a new EICR?
I've been having issues with burning smells from the plug sockets so now I'm concerned about the safety...
Hi,
I have a single light switch, wired like this.. the 2 wires in com, with a always live wire coming to the switch, and then wire going out to the light. (earth is in choc block at switch and light fixture)
I want to add a second switch like this
Does this look ok?
Thanks,
Derek.
Hi all.
So I'm designing my new kitchen and trying to plan where things will go. I currently have a 6 switch panel for the appliances (hob, cooker hood, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer). I was wondering... are these regulation to have these switches? Half of the...
So I’m an apprentice and only get to do downlighter jobs as foreigners at the weekend, but they’re typically added when the customer no longer wants a pendant so the ceiling is already finished and I’ve never seen downlights being wired while the ceiling is exposed and then finding them after...
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2024 FROM ELECTRICIANS FORUMS!
Do you have any new year resolutions?
I'm thinking:-
Get Fitter (give it 30 days)
Drive slower (couple of days)
For the past few years, I have used a hydronic system (outdoor wood boiler) with both high and low temp working simultaneously. The low temp system is controlled by TEKMAR mixing control #356 variable speed. I recently added 2 thermostats and 2 zone valves (Honeywell 8043F) to the high temp...
Hi, I installed 6 recessed lights in my living room. I’m now up to the wiring part of the project. There is an outlet in the room that is half-hot. The switch just outside the room controls the bottom part of the outlet. The switch has 2 red wires and 1 black. The black is always hot and located...
Hi,
My current oven is hardwired to a fused connection plate with a 13Amp fuse inside and power switch. That is then connected to the MCB labelled kitchen. The MCB switch labelled cooker is actually connected to the hob. Could I cut the hardwired cable and connect an unfused plug socket, which...
I am in UK and have just built a summerhouse and inside is a large LG flatscreen TV. I purchased an aluminium pole, ran the cable out and up (within the pole, I hope this does not matter) and attached it to the ariel. It's only picking up three channels. The cable has preformed F type...
My Lamona oven has broke so I’m replacing it with a new one. Does it matter that the new one I’m wanting to get is 2.8kw compared to the current one at 2.4kw?
Is it still safe to have or do I have to get one at the same power or lower?
Hey all,
As the title suggests I'm taking the final exam in the new year. I have my sheets to go through ready for the exam and over the Christmas period I want to look at prepping my wiring diagrams out.
I understand what we need to be doing on it. I was just wondering if anyone has any...
Wouldn't normally note this as an observation on a report but feel I need to. The way the building has been wired is all circuits on L1 have been wired in old red, L2 old Yellow, L3 old blue, however as stuff has been added it's now got new colours. The property is currently empty awaiting new...
Hi
My Kitchen has never had a cooker hood installed.
Where the new hood is going to be situated is some distance from any of the outlets in the kitchen ring main.
However there is a cable coming out of the wall near where the hood is going that was originally intended for one of a pair of wall...
Hi all
We are hoping to upgrade our oven.
We currently have a single integrated oven and a separate induction hob. Each has its own red switch on the kitchen wall.
The consumer unit has 2 "cooker" parts both labelled as B32.
We are hoping to get a larger freestanding electric range style...
