Looking for an outdoor centre off switch (not retractive) and find myself short on options.
I have a lot of Gewiss enclosures to which a centre off switch can be fitted, but would prefer to avoid those clear membrane covers that will eventually leak.
Other switches used for this will be...

Microwave on its own breaker
HVAC on its own breaker
This happened about 3 times...
This is a strange one, my neighbour is a bit mad, he had a largish extension built in about 2015, the builder attempted to do everything including the electrics. I had a look when it was first fixed and said it was done terribly and it needed starting again, so I did it for him. That was back in...
As a young man, I was an electrician, but now I'm getting on, I am strictly DIY.
I used to have a cheap old 900W petrol generator connected to a dedicated twin socket which I used to run my gas central heating boiler (plus essential TV) in the event of a power failure. It worked fine, but...
Good afternoon - we're considering adding an additional breaker to our "main service panel" which is where the meter is located. That panel has 6 slots (I guess 12) with 5 double breakers currently. One breaker is 90 amps which feeds our interior panel which has lights, cook top, A/C condensing...
Evening all,
I just wanted to see if electrical improvers/adult trainees with appropriate levels of experience and who hold testing qualifications can complete minor works certs or EIC's for basic installs. For me that shows competence and skill as is always mentioned and certs are checked off...
Hello, I wired a DPDT switch to my sunroof 12v DC motor. It was working ok and I was able to reverse the polarity of the motor to open and close the sunroof. However days later it started to burn when off, even though I hooked up a 20A fuse before the switch. I don't know if it's a short circuit...
Hi, Can someone help point me in the right direction of where I turn to get a refund from college?.
Hi, this is not about an electrical course but I have done my level 3 2365 etc in the past and I know what to expect from a level 3 course.

Hi all,
My mother wants a double socket adding next to a desk, behind the desk there is a 10mm (i dont know the MCB in the Consumer Unit) which feeds a workshop outside which in turn has its own CU.
What i was thinking of doing was spurring off the 10mm into a Fused connection unit with a 13A...
HI everyone I'm getting 255 volts between live and earth natural to live on a live lighting circuit fed from 6amp rcbo ,
When switch off I'm getting 59volts between live and earth
Natural to live 59 volts
Any idea why
I installed an illuminated switch (switch is lit when circuit is off) for my porch light. I noticed that even when off, my LED porch lite is dimmly lit. I measured the voltage at the socket and it was 25VAC. Is this expected or did I install a faulty switch?

Thank you in advance for your help. I recently purchased a home and while removing some built-ins I found that they had a 14/2 wire running inside the built in between an outlet behind the built in and an outlet next to it. I assumed they ran a new switch off the hidden one when they installed...
We have had two LED touch screen mirrors installed in our ensuite. You have a touch button on the mirror to switch off and change brightness and colour. It is intalled so there is a switch on the wall as well - both mirrors are on the same switch.
Hoping someone can help settled a debate - I...
Hi
Our oven stopped working suddenly including the clock. It was on the fan oven setting at about 150 degrees. I checked the fuse board - it had not tripped. A little bit later when I used one of the gas hobs (the gas hobs have an automatic igniter) the oven came back to life ie clock came back...
I moved into a house where the owner left an air compressor. He started wiring it before he left, said it works but needs wiring finished. It has a 230 volt 15 amp motor which has 4 wires coming out of it 2- H, 1-com. and 1 ground going to a 3 wire plug which he has capped the com. From there...
Hi - I'm trying to add an additional outlet to a circuit in my house. I tested the outlet with a tester, and it showed as correct. The existing outlet is facing the finished part of the basement, but where I am looking to add an outlet is in the unfinished utility room behind the wall. I have...
