Hi all,
Have a lighting pendant switched by a pull cord in a downstairs toilet.
Apparently 50% of the time it will trip the circuit.
Could this be a faulty switch or even lamp?
The switch and pendant are only couple months old (cheap ones tho)
Thanks
Hi all
Just a quick 1 I'm doing an eicr and basically I've come across 2 pendant fittings with a 2 core flex going to them and no CPC problem is that ceiling has been over boarded with timber panels there's an earth at every other fitting, what code would this warrant.
Hi guys,
Im looking for a standard white 6 inch pendant with as narrow a diameter as possible to avoid the overlap on a property with exposed beams. Doesn't have to be 3 plate as i'm wiring at switch. Any ideas which are smallest and where to buy would be greatly appreciated.
When testing lighting circuits that contains multiple fittings connected to the circuit via plug in roses, are the readings for either R1R2 or R2 taken at the plug in rose or the fitting?
This question is aimed more at doing a periodic rather than at the initial verification stage. Personally...

I saw GE Halogen lamps in use on a social housing block being refurbed - whilst they are still allowed to be sold, i don't think you can say it complies with Building Regulations as they are C rated and so hardly energy saving - 1200 lumen for 70 W is pretty poor.( <18 l/w energy efficient is...
Recently had my inaugural NICEIC Domestic Installer Assessment. My assessor pointed out to me that my Schedule of Inspections was slightly inaccurate in that I had marked "double insulation" as "N/A". He pointed out to me that standard ceiling pendants had no CPC and as such were class 2...
Hi all
doing a job in a house and the client wants me to put a pendant in the bathroom, now the ceilings are quite high (2550) and i have some short 6" pendants so well outside of the zones. Do you think i should push the customer for a proper bathroom fitting or even use a batten holder.
Thanks
Can anyone tell me where I can get hold of an outside pendant (coaching lantern style) in plastic or polycarbonate? I can find wall-mounted versions but the customer wants to replace his existing (metal) one without paying to run a cpc to it.
Thanks.
Looked at a job today in an old house. Customer want to do away with the standard white rose and pendant and for something more in keeping with the house.
I've seen old style switches advertised before but can't for the life of me remember.
Anyone else fitted these before?
Carried out a refurb on a posh house in Kensington, client calls to advise having an issue with some lights in a hallway, we attend to find a faulty dimmer module, rated upto 400w, single mod so no derating and mod suited for lamp type and 120w load, fit a replacement mod and starts having a...
Ok, thats not what its called. But can you help please guys. I have to mount three lights (to be purchased by customer) on the side of an rsj when its boxed in. Now normally I could mount under the rsj but on this occasion they will only be dot and dabing that on the bottom as they need to keep...
In Ireland we run a 1.5 mm brown and brown and cpc from the pendant to the switch as you are never allowed use the blue from a t&e, is this the case for the UK or do you still run brown and blue and mark the blue as a phase ??
Just a quick question we got called in to repair a light fitting in a rented property which had been assessed by letting agency. On the scedule it said to replace bulb in bathroom light this we did as only allowed to do what mentioned on sheet at same time had to replace lampholder to TRS as old...

I will be converting a kitchen shortly from a single pendant (loop in, loop out, switch) to downlights.
I know there's a few different ways of doing it, junction box, connector blocks, wago box etc but I was wondering how everybody else...

Hi,
I've just had a new ceiling pendant fitted with a dimmer switch. For some reason the light doesn't seem to work with a standard bulb (bayonet fitting) but when I put in a energy saving bulb it does light up (although flickering as its on a dimmer) so the pendant is obviously wired OK...
I did a PIR last week and in the utility cupboard a single pendant which was in the whole house light circuit showed, 112V L/N and 118V N/E I suspect water ingression but the rose cover was dry all other lights on this circuit were fine and Zs was within limits, with no other associated issues...
