I was in a well known DIY outlet the other day, no not B&Q the other one that has a trade side, this geyser comes in all kitted out in his Snickers work gear and calmly asks the assistant if he had a 40A fcu as he wanted to spur off the Ring final for a Shower. had to tell him but he wouldn't...
Just been back to a job that I upgraded the DB in and water bonding in November to find the plumber that's fitted a new boiler has cut my bonding to the water main. Now I've got to run the whole lot again FFS.
I've read in some threads on this forum that most of us have or have had problems with plumbers.
In my experience they tend to try to dominate jobs by spreading their tools and fittings all over the place so no-one else can get in to work. They follow NO logical pattern when installing pumps or...
Rant warning!!
Twice in as many weeks I've had to put right the work of local 'handymen' and also the work of a 'part p' plumber, who after cocking it up completely and leaving a minor works cert for fitting an instant water heater, complete with new circuit wired into the hob mcb, then stuck a...

The Plumber’s Song.
( sung to the theme tune of Sharpe )
O’er the joists and through the floor
Bend the pipes around the door
Sh!t commands and we obey
Pack the tools and run away.
Burn the cables,diss the earth
It’s a job for what it’s worth
Floorboards knacked and nailed back...
Who'd be interested in watching (and participating in) a documentary about the challenges facing the average domestic and small commercial sparkie?
I left a career in the City about 10/ 11 years ago to retrain as an electrician as I thought I could help change the perception of your local...

Or should it be totally separate to prevent risk of blockage / backflow?
Builder has suggested running new kitchen waste to the sewerage downpipe that is in the room rather than digging up the front garden and tarmac drive to access the sewer direct.
What would be the correct thing to do?
He...
Just done an EICR on DB03 (I've got 3 DB's) on my own property today. All was ok, no codes, only thing I did notice is I must be getting over weight as I was getting out of breath up and down stairs, back and forth to the DB. I think I'll do another DB next week lol
I had a call today from a guy who recently had a boiler installed in an upstairs cupboard, since the work was done 2 sockets in the kitchen didn't work, I found this under the floor where he joined into one leg of the ring to feed the boiler, the actual 2 sockets not working were because there...

Just doing a CU change and there's no continuity on the rig main which does down stairs upstairs and kitchen all on one circuit. The plumber had recently added underfloor heating to this circuit in a bathroom.
I asked him for his results and he went mental at me saying he didn't need a...
Hi,
ive been tasked with writing a 'standard operation sheet' for plumbers to replace electric showers safely.
at the moment they are replacing showers with no test gear, then the electrician is following behind doing a Zs
my concern is; they turn it off at the dp switch and remove the shower...
Finally downloaded the attached picture of a "shower fault" i recently worked on.
As you can see the bloody plumber connected the 6mm T&E directly across the Main Isolator ( The grey flex is actually the Earth Sleeving ).
No RCD protection or Earth Bonding either.
Luckily the Shower Isolator...
is it just me...when I'm at my wholesaler there's not much chat between sparks, just customer and wholesaler. let alone any reference to prices charged etc, yet when I pop into the plumbers merchant next door....loads of chat and discussion on prices.
it is so competetive in Brighton that...
