I have few questions regarding central heating in Scotland. I have moved to Scotland a few weeks ago and I can't understand heating installation. The hot water in bathroom (I mean shower) is from electric boiler not from the gas boiler? I have also a problem with hot water in taps both...
We recently had an unvented cylinder installed (to replace an old vented one) and the higher pressure of the hot water has made us realise how crap the tap is on the kitchen sink. Had a wee look under the sink and discovered that I have no isolating valve on the hot pipe!
Would I be right in...

Or should it be totally separate to prevent risk of blockage / backflow?
Builder has suggested running new kitchen waste to the sewerage downpipe that is in the room rather than digging up the front garden and tarmac drive to access the sewer direct.
What would be the correct thing to do?

It seems some companies here offer more services than the yellow pages. Is this the same in the UK? I remember my childhood electricians as electricians, carpenters as carpenters and plumbers as plumbers.
Will this affect the quality of work done?
Although as an electrician that depends on...
Hello all,
Nice to meet you again.
