Mains bonding query
Hi all I'm going through my training and am confusing myself in regard to mains bonding. Is it there to protect the instalation from a fault withing the building or a fault outside the building making the incoming water or gas supply pipes live. I have a ( brief over view) 5 Db's served from main board by C50 OPD,s inadequate main earth 6mm self tappered to metal of CU's I can get a decent ZS/PFC/ DB if I clamp onto brass nut of SWA (and set my tester to a B50) but not on disconnected main earth, would this poor earth cause a potenial... -

IR TESTING - advantage of connecting L and N?
GN3 states that it acceptable to connect L and N together and IR to earth in a situation where all wires cannot be disconnected from accessories i.e a row of fluo's But what is the advantage of doing this rather than just individually IR testing between first L and earth then between N and earth?- brizospark

TT Earth and Neutral voltage.
Just out of interest if a TT system is installed with a decent earth rod what sort of voltages exist between the Neutral in respect to real earth potential of 0 Volts? What's the average Neutral to Earth voltage, does it fluctuate from time to time? Does it get dangerous??? Thanks. -

Why does a volt-meter not show a reading when connected to the same phase?
When a volt-meter is connected to the same phase. Why doesn't it show a voltage reading? Thanks in advance for any explanations.- foolios
