90s house electric issues continues 🥲
So after getting some good advice here I've managed to sort out some of the heating issues so thank you for that everyone 🙏
I'm seem to have a few bugs and keep chasing problems
So my current issue is downstairs shower only has hot water with no...
Hi, recently moved into 30 year old home. We were renovating it for a few months and didn't notice this issue. 3-4 times over last month the power has gone out to the entire home, without flipping any circuits. When we've been home for it (twice) it has only lasted a few seconds. I'm yet to ask...
Hi,
The `power went out throughout the house this afternoon but only to the sockets, the lighting circuits are all fine. I went to the consumer unit expecting to reset a circuit breaker but nothing had tripped.
I have attached a pic of the consumer unit. Using a current detector pen I can...
Hello everyone! I'll start by saying an electrician is going to be called on this one, but I'm so curious as to what might be going on I just wanted to pick some brains. About 6 months ago, we started getting a little flicker in the all the lights in the house. Nothing big, and didn't think much...
Hi, I have a new Dyno-Glo Garage Heater that I connected to the breaker, and it won't turn on. Multimeter reads 120V going at each node in the heater.
Breaker is a double-pole 30 Amp Stab-Lok, rated for 240V.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot further, and I'm hoping for some direction, please.
I currently have a Single Pole Double Throw switch with 5 pins (as shown below) which I want to wire up to UK mains:

The machine is a Sunnen CK-21-E used for Honing. I cannot find any manuals but ill post the tag. I dont believe its multi-voltage which would make this a lot easier for me. It says 480V and its pulling 12 Amps full load.
Location is in a warehouse. Only power nearby is 2ea. 208V panels both...
I was replacing a ceiling light fixture this afternoon when all of a sudden there was no more power in the box. The old light was working fine before and I just turned off the switch before doing the replacement. There are 3 sets of wires in the box: power coming in, another set of wires going...
Hi everyone.
I basically wanted to check to see if what I propose is correct.
I had an electrician come round (pre covid) to install power to my garage (Detached from house). This is the setup he used.
Spur off socket on ring main a short distance to a 13A switched FCU
Cable from the FCU...
My 92' Firebird that I just acquired will not start. I bypassed VATS security
with resistors so the security light now shuts off. I replaced my positive
battery lead that was shot and the only thing that happens when I turn the
key is the temp gauge fluttering. The relay only has 0.5 constant...

Hi all, looking for advice, based in the UK.
I have a 30m long garden with shed at bottom that I want to run an extension lead to on a permanent basis. Use is for power tools (drill, jigsaw) plus lamp in the winter so neither constant nor heavy usage.
Currently I run a single 40m reel...
OK, this is a weird one!
I have a grid tied PV system which exports spare power to the grid.
The maximum it will export is around 2.5kW
Now I want to use around 1.5kW, but I want to use it to heat a 3kW element.
So it will be a slow long heating rather than the full 3kW the element normally...
Our toilet extractor has, or so I thought, been failing (delayed startup, bit intermittent) for some time, and yesterday it finally stopped working. Vent-Axia Silhouette 100T.
It's going to be a bit of a pain to replace, so I though I would check the connections first just in case. Imagine my...

Hi all!
I tried to replace toggle light switch for a rocker switch, but got no power from that breaker once it was flipped back on.
So, I re-installed the old switch and everything works fine... until I flip the switch. This cuts power to everything on that circuit, (but, does not trip the...
Hi there, I have a 1992 Mercedes and what I'm trying to do is take my cordless drill (12v, 18v, whatever) and apply power to the sunroof directly on junkyard cars. I want to run the roof forward and back to remove parts from the various area of the sunroof system.
The connector on the motor...
Hi, I have a 12V output from a control box that lights an LED. I want to use that output to switch power to a camera, but don’t want to lose the LED. The LED has a resistor in series.
My first thought was to just put the camera in parallel with the LED, but then thought a relay with the coil in...
Hi all,
my mate rang me and said some of his sockets stopped working so i went to have a quick look and for someone inexperienced like me it's got me stumped, so i was wondering if someone with some expertise could help.
all the sockets are working except 1 downstairs and 2 upstairs, one in...
Hi,
I have an open plan flat and want to get power to a kitchen island. I really want to avoid getting it through a pole from the ceiling. It's a new build approximately 13 years and has under floor heating. I believe it is electrical under floor heating, and from making a drill hole under a...
Hi All,
Just looking for some reassurance on a job I've looked at today. My status is that I am trying to stay within the realms of 'Minor Works' until I get a bit of experience under my belt. Conscientious decision - but everywhere I go it seems that notifiable work is needed as well...
