Hi guys
I'm looking to run power and lighting from an indoor socket to my gazebo.
I'm happy to buy two good quility Rcd sockets. Can I spur off from one of them to power the lighting.
I installed a motion sensor switch in our laundry room. It works.
But, now the lights in the next room won't work, and a couple power outlets down the hall don't have power.
Posting a photo of the box. Please let me know what other useful info I can provide?
Thanks in advance.
I was working on a lighting circuit connected to a 3 phase board. The board has a single RCD effectively acting as the main switch. After tripping the RCD by cutting a wire (the old circuit isolated via MCB but Neutral still connected reason), I found that the power to the board didn't come back...
Hi,
I want to bring 2 x 20A (@120V) to a chicken coop. It will be powered from my garage panel which will require 140' of cable. 85' in the garage along 2 walls, and 55' buried between the garage and the coop. I used a few voltage drop calculators and it looks like I will need a 6/3 to stay...
Got me thinking,maybe too much,power to turnstile,card controlled,for exit & entry.
16 amp,Rcbo protected.
The turnstile is external, fixed to metal fencing, would this need main bonding, the power of local DB inside property.
Hi Guys.

Hi guys
Looking to upgrade the power to my shed, currently use a extension cable.
I have 2 spare spaces in my consumer unit in house so hopefully be able to add to it for the shed, which would have a 4way or 6way consumer unit in it.
Would be about 25-30m run of cable , would 6mm t+e be enough...
Hi,
We have a well at the top of the Garden approximately 80 metres away. I would like to run some cabling underground approximately 6 metres and then along the bottom of my fence/wall the rest of the distance. At the well I am powering a 700W water pump which will be connected to an external...
Hi guys,
I need to run power to my garage. At the moment, I've gotten away with wiring a long extension cable. 13A Plug on one end, cabled to double female receptacles at the other end.
So far that's worked fine as I've only used a LED light and some other low powered items. I just unplug...
Hi all. I’ve joined the site to ask for a quick bit of advice.
Please note, I’m not an electrician, I will be hiring one to complete the bulk of the work required, but I would basically like to know what are my limits in terms of DIY. Not only is money tight, I also need to carry out some prep...
Gas Energy provider replaced my gas boiler timer switch with smart Netatmo controller . Since the installation of the Netatmo controller the display on my boiler switches off when Netatmo turns off . I was advised by Service engineer today there is no live wire to boiler that is why the...
Hi, I have a 12V output from a control box that lights an LED. I want to use that output to switch power to a camera, but don’t want to lose the LED. The LED has a resistor in series.
My first thought was to just put the camera in parallel with the LED, but then thought a relay with the coil in...
Hi all,

Hi all.
Thank you all in advance for your help and advice.
I was hoping to get some help and advice on a cooker issue I'm experiencing.
My cooker is "brand new" and I recently had it installed by my father inlaw (competent tradesman although not an electrician)
The cooker is brand new but...
Hi,
I have an open plan flat and want to get power to a kitchen island. I really want to avoid getting it through a pole from the ceiling. It's a new build approximately 13 years and has under floor heating. I believe it is electrical under floor heating, and from making a drill hole under a...
Iv'e come across a shed that was supplied via a 13A Fused connection unit with 2.5mm squared flat twin and earth on a 15 metre run inside 20mm plastic conduit that was clipped to their wooden fence every 300mm.
Supplies 6 double sockets and one 5ft LED light fitting.
(earthing arrangement is...
So attended a house (one of many) and the earthing arrangements fall far short of what is needed. No bonding such as gas bond the cable is there hanging around in the air by the gas meter. 8.75 ohm Zs at socket.
More importantly the cut-out has no earth to attach to. However there is an earth...
I am putting together some 32A 1phase connections for plugging in a caravan to the house power. I was planning on using SY flex or SWA, from consumer panel to a 32a socket, would that socket need a rotary isolator? I'm thinking yes, it will be on a dedicated MCB, and next to the consumer unit...
