Hi forum,
A question about R1+R2 testing. I’m testing a lighting circuit. It’s an old circuit with old colours. In the control panel feeding the circuit there is no earth cable feeding the lighting circuit, only an earth cable bonding the control panel to the strands of the armoured cable...
I’ve just changed a few lights for a customer and I rarely do testing so not very knowledgeable on it. I tested 3 lighting circuits.
1st circuit - Zs is 0.48 - r1+r2 is 0.55
2nd circuit - Zs is 0.75 - r1+r2 is 1.02
3rd circuit - Zs is 1.06 - r1+r2 is 1.55
All breakers are B type 10A BS en 60898...
Hi guys looking for some guidance ,i am assisting with the renovation of an old building that contains a commercial kitchen and restaurant the building is in no way wired to commercial spec but has been passed electrically in the past. Very little information was present at all 4 fuse boards and...
Hi there thanks for helping if you do, but was wondering on testing r1+r2 on a 3 phase distribution board could I link out L1,L2,L3 to earth and there for take all my reading that way ?
Seen some guys when doing EICRs just doing live tests and subtracting the Ze off of the Zs to get their R1+R2 reading. Is this is a bad way of doing it? I know you’re supposed to do tests in the order of dead tests first etc but wondering if this is going to give you readings that are way off or...
Hi guys,
Went to do some garden lights, was going to use the existing cable already feeding the old lights in the garden.
Did R1+R2 and R1+Rn on the feed, figures were roughly 1.2 ohms. The feed was tapped of the downstairs lighting circuit.
I further inspected the accessories, and i noticed...
Testing SWA 16mm sub main to a garage, getting reading of 66 ohms between R1+R2 and a IR resistance of between 4-5 M Ohms anyone explain how? The RCD is all fine and not tripping just testing
L
All I can think of is loose connection one end, high resistance joint, or SWA corroded
Can anyone please help me, HOW to Calculate R1+R2 on 4 core three phase & neutral SWA, Armour Steel Sheet is Used as CPC. How to fill the Electrical Installation Form. This scenario is in AM2 Inspection and testing filling Certs Exam? Please reply with best answers.
Any members those who took...
Hi guys,
I just need help with something really basic that I’m struggling with in terms of calculating resistance (as opposed to measuring).
Just a hypothetical question here, not a real situation, I just need to understand the theory.
If I had a socket, just 1, on a radial, running from DB...
Came across this table from on old thread: Is there a table of expected R1+R2 results in BS7671? - https://www.electriciansforums.net/threads/is-there-a-table-of-expected-r1-r2-results-in-bs7671.103412/
I'm just wondering if anyone has the original or a more detailed version that they...
Hi guys looking for some advice I'm working in an old property with conduit fed ring mains and lights. I've got a full street of these to test so looking to see the best way to go about it . There is no seperate cpc ran in to any of the switches or lights. The integrity of the conduit is perfect...
Hi all,
I would like to ask you about ring final circuit canductors and schedule of test results.
I have got dedicated ring circuit to supply kitchen appliances. Circuit is protected by mcb tybe B 32A. Then supply is split into radial circuits to supply appliances by switched 13A FCUs. What...
I'm just trying to get my head round R1+R2 calculations (predicted rather than measured). All seems very straightforward naturally, however, I'm just after clarification of something. For the 1.2 factor that is applied to adjust the resistance of conductors to operating temperature, I just...
Quick query I’m hoping someone can clear up. Im just looking at an example of a schedule of test results in a book I’m studying and I’ve come across an example I don’t understand. A lighting circuit protected by a 6amp 60898 Type C (Ref Method 100) using 1.5/1.0 T&E is measuring out R1+R2 at...
hello
1.is that acceptable if i do only Zs test last point of the lighting circuit and on scoket!
instead of measure R1+R2?
i can caluclate R1+R2 ACTUALY!
ZS-ZE=R1+R2 is it acceptable to write the value on certificate?
2. as i know the maximum Zs by rcd (rcbo)protected circuit 1667 ohm...
So when doing partial testing, when doing ring circuits i have a query.
Do end to end prove each conductor is a ring. In the area on the test sheet it says r1+r2 OR r2. Is it ok to do end to end and fill in the cpc end to end reading (r2) into this box and do zs of every socket to not only get...
So im currently doing my AM2 and doing the testing, I understand that this is simple, but when writing down the R1+R2 on the certificate, do I need to put the highest reading down? Theres a ring circuit eith 4 sockets on it l, however one of the sockets is a spur - which obviously has the higher...
I think I may have asked this question a while ago but not sure on what the answer was and it's come up again at our monthly tool box talk.
When doing a Minor works for an additional spurred socket or extra light fitting on a circuit, should the R1+R2 measurement be taken from the protective...
Hi everyone. Did a test last week and sorting the paperwork. On the downstairs lighting circuit I got an R1+R2 reading of 3.35 but a Zs of 0.90. Normally I'd go looking for a loose connection somewhere myself but the company I work operates in a way where I've got a limited time to do the...
