Hi All
So I've just extended two circuits and I've got home to type my results up for the certificate and I'm doubting my results, For the R1+R2 for the cooker circuit I got 0.02 ohms and for the ring I got 0.25 ohms, something seems a little off here.
Now by my calculations a 6mm cable should...
Hi,
Just a quick question,
Ring Main, ive done end to end on the neutral and line conductor, cant do end to end of the CPC due to the Steel Conduit being used as the CPC, does this mean that i cant do a R1+R2 test due to being unable to do the figure 8?
Thanks
Hi All,
In preparation for a pending assessment, I have installed a new 2 way CU in my garage with all new wiring (my own property), and TT the earth. (House supply is TNC-S, PME).
I am testing the lighting circuit. (6a mcb / 2 switches / 2 way/ 1.5/1.0 cable . Have tested in all switch...
Hi all,
I've tested several radial circuits and only getting 0.00 ohms on the r+r2 test (zero'd leads)
2 of the radials only supplies one socket each and are approx. 3 metres in total length. (zs 0.25 and 0.21)
Another radial only supplies one socket and is appox. 5m in length. (zs 0.35)
The...
I am currently testing a ring circuit with an r1 of 1.12 an rn of 1.12 and an r2 of 1.80
I have carried out my figure 8 test only to find that i have varying readings at the sockets between 0.40 and 0.80. How is it that I could be getting a low reading such as 0.40 with no parallel paths. I...
Evening gents bit of advice, testing the above and when switches are on a reading of 3.13 ohms is apparent. Now when a switch is turned off I would expect a dead circuit I.e infinite >2000 but no a reading of 60.4 ohms is shown any thoughts on what this could be ?? Cheers
HI all,
can someone tell me what the R1&R2 reading on 100mtrs of 2.5mm would be
and has anyone got a table for working it out, been years since doing it but why do i remember 0.07 in my head, remember someone telliing me to think of james bond but cant seem to think why.
i assume there is a...
What is the reason that a dimmer makes R1+R2 readings so high when still connected in lighting circuits?
I may be missing the obvious but is it anything to do with Back EMF?
I havent come across this before, wondered if its common and what it signifies in the ring.
Remeasured 3 times and got within 20mohms or so each time so pretty sure its not a zeroing the meter thing.
2.5:1.5 TW/E ring. I went around all of downstairs rooms, did min of few sockets in each room...
If i you can't isolate the supply to obtain an R1+R2 would it then be acceptable to calculate it?
Also then as an alternate means how would you prove polarity?
Carrying out a few consumer unit replacements at a hotel, installation to the room is via trunking conduit with no cpc however at the rooms previous refurbishments have been carried out these being wired in Twin and earth with the cpc being connected to the existing system. Now I am not sure...
Evening electricians.
This has probably already been covered but am gonna go for it anyway. Is it possible to get a Zs reading without cpc. The reason I ask, is today is undertook an R1+R2 test which had a visible cpc but open circuit . i undertook a Zs test, and got a reading. I understand...
Im sure this has been covered before, but Im after peoples views, I am 100 percent confused by the reg that states zs may be calculated using ze plus r1 r2, but r1 r2 cannot be calculated using zs minus ze, naturally I test my r1 r2 and zs. But once I've tested my zs on a periodic for example I...
I have always been a bit confused about boxes 10,12 and 13 in the example of a completed 'Form 4 - schedule of test results'.
I understand why the value we get for R1+R2 (when measured at a socket) is a quarter of the end to end resistances, but why on the form is this not more clear?
Box 10...
Evening all,
When testing r1 + r2 do you connect live to earth bar, link it at the end of the circuit or do you have someone at the end helping you?
whilst testing Today I was wondering is there a quicker way to do it apart from the long lead method as I prefer r1+r2
Hi,
Hoping someone can help.
I went to a job today where the householder had sixteen downlights installed less than twelve months ago, (no test sheet or certificate for the install), the complaint being that bulbs (240V GU10) are always blowing. I pulled the downlights and checked connections...
