Hi All
Today I came across 2 x 2 radials on 16 a mcb's. Both on 2,5 mm .
One is for KTCH and the other for the 2 bed flat .
They were suppose to be rings , but for some reason they are radials .
If you do T & I , what would you put on a test sheet for R1 + R2 and ZS
Thx
So an old colleague of mine stipulates that ring main should be protected by 20 amp breakers. Why you ask?
Well he said because a piece of 2.5mm2 can only take circa 26 amps and if the ring main broke at any point it would effectively make it two radials, and it would be protected by a 32 amp...
I have been asked to add a double socket in or right next to the board cupboard.
There is no spare ways and the house sockets are wired as two radials.
There is however a circuit for an electric fire wired in 2.5 T+E from a 20a mcb, i was under the impression there is only to be one...
Hi,
I had a nice little job of cutting 20 Australian plugs off appliances etc the other day and replacing with uk plugs...
It occurred to me though, none of them had fuses?..
I have no idea how it works down under and just wondered if someone would kindly tell me why the appliances are not fused.
Done a eicr on a tt no rcd protection and ze of 268 ohms.
3 Radials in 2.5mm going to 32 amp mcb.
Just been plastered throughout and some type of rewire i think, the house is going through a sale and was requested by buyers solicitor.
I was going to replace cu and put sockets on three...
Hi all,
I have tested a consumer unit and found that there are 2 16a circuits with 2 radials on each.
One circuit feeds 1 DSSO in utility room and 1 DSSO under the stairs ( 2 radials)
The other circuit feeds 2 DSSO in bedroom and 1 DSSO in kitchen (2 radials)
There are no spare ways...
Hi all,
Today i found 2 radial circuits in a 32amp mcb breaker, would you give it a code c1 or c2 on a eic report?
Also what are the main dangers of having these together?
Cheers
Dem
A property has 10 radial circuits supplied off an old Economy 7 off peak board that used to feed storage heaters, they are now converted to 10 individualy fused radial 13A socket outlets. The owner wants you to replace both of his consumer units, where you going with this. Circuit id and...
I'm wiring a ring main into a room in a house that is being converted to an office with Dado trunking. The guy has several computers and loads of IT equipment therefore I'm weary of putting it on an RCD due to the earth leakage.
Im changing the CU also so ive ordered a high integrity board with...
Hi all, whats people views on best practice when finding open/damaged rings when changing consumer units. Obviously sort it is first option but what when customer doesn't want/can't have floor lifted to replace a damaged cable and surface mounting isn't an option. I like to put on different...
I was inspecting the electrical installation in a large 5-bed late Victorian or early Edwardian property that I am considering buying in Scotland when I came across the 'socket circuits'; 3 32A MCBs so I expected 3 Ring Final Circuits. Each MCB only had one wire so adjust assumptions - they...
Hi guys, first time poster, so please be kind!
Can anyone advise me whether underfloor heating should be on its own circuit or whether a fcu off the ring final would be acceptable? This is for a kitchen at my mum and dads. I've first fixed the cables. A couple of 6mm for the two ovens they are...
Hi guys, just your thoughts please, customer has come to me after having a eicr (by someone else). Anyway there a circuit for sockets (5 in total) its on one 2.5 from the board and then goes to a jb under floor somewhere (not a problem I hear you say) but from this jb it turns from a 2.5 t+e to...
Hi all can you help to settle a argument.
Situation
2 x 4mm in the top of a 32mm. MCB
Option 1
This indicates to me that it is either 2 radials in the same MCB, or a 4mm ring.
A ring continuity test should be carried out to prove that a ring exists or it is 2 radials.
If a ring exists...
Hi went to a job yesterday there was 3 ring mains so i thought, after testing them they were radials but were all terminated into 32 a mcbs 2 wire in them did R1 R2 TESTS and readings were high 3.2 ohms/ 1.9ohms these were the highest there are a further 4 radials which are around the 1.9 the...
I have just installed a new wylex dual rcd board replacing an old memera 2000 single rcd. Whilst wiring in I noticed what was purporting to be a ring main was in fact two radials in the same breaker, no problem I thought, I will split them up, one on each rcd, however, having done that it will...
I was speaking to an Electrical Engineering suit not too long ago,
He reckons that there's talk of Ring Final Circuits being done away with and the preference to install Radials only.
Anyone else heard this little gem.
Whats the general preference of everyone for the two systems????
Anyone...
Hi guys, doing a rewire in which i plan to do the circuits in 4mm as radials, one down one up and kitchen. When designing how can i work out the loading along the circuit? Also how can you work out the loading on a lighting circuit radial as the load will be split along the length so the...
Just calculating my In... conduit with singles run.
For the grouping factor - Cg it states number of circuits
If I have 2 circuits, but this consists of 18 x singles (e.g 1 x ring = 6 and 4 x radials)
Would this still be a factor = 0.75 ?
Thank you
