hi guys just been out to a job with a faulty rcbo and i noticed that when you swiched on the rcd (high integraty board) the rcbo tripped . the rcbo was feeding another board. has anybody come across this before? is this due to harmonic currents? any thoughts would be greatfull
The regs give a table for non delayed RCD's and circuits under 32A, how do you calculate max Zs if there is a delayed RCD or if the circuit is over 32A?
Hi
I have been trying to find the BS numbers for various breakers, cut outs and MCB's and fuses.
Does anyone know where I could find such a list for use with EIC.
I am only really familiar with BS 60898 and 61009. I have seen BS88 but for the other types and there Ka rating I am unsure...
Hi guys I was just thinking about what someone put about a question I asked a couple of days ago. I asked about putting an RCD proceted fused spur on a ring main to feed an outside light. they said the RCD fused spur will be fine as long as its not protected by another RCD on the cu. My question...
Looking at some kitching lights, there are two downlights and 4 under cupboard lights on one switch.
Found it to be linked in the switch to the other lights so assumed it had a shared neutral.
After removing the downlights with then go on to connect to two under cupboard lights the first two...
Hi Guys i am doing a job with a TT supply system would like your suggestions on weather to fit 30mA RCBO's on each final circuit or just a dual rcd split load CCU. I thought seperate RCBO's as the guy wants mains voltage downlights and we all know how many times it knocks the rcd out when they...
I have fitted a dual rcd board, and everything has tested fine. my only problem is that the rcd's do not trip on the 180 phase roatation, but trip within limits on the 0 phase rotation. I have swapped both rcds for new to check that the rcd's werent faulty and i still have the same problem.
Has...
can anyone clarify if rcd protection is required retrospectively on ring main/socket circuits in industrial premises.
I have been given a job to clear up snags on a periodic inspection, the lack of rcd protection is given as a failure on a number of circuits.
it's not a problem, i would...
At College, haven't covered much yet about dual RCD's
What is the advantage of using two Rcd's over one.
What circuits would be on each section of the CU?
Also I have an old re wirable type CU and am thinking of changing it(with more knowledge).
I have a split load board with one Rcd would this...
Hi (first post)
Has anyone had trouble with Wylex RCDs?
Just installed a consumer unit and both my RCDs trip on power on but with all MCBs off and unable to reset them.
Never used Wylex before so can I asume both RCDs are faulty?
Will pop out and get some replacements, but thought I'd ask if...
Are there any known issues with RCD's and storage heaters?
I've done an inspection on my own house, the storage heaters are on their own board, its a TNCS system. The only problem is that when they were installed the wires were tucked under the joists rather than through a hole in the middle...
Hi
With the intro of the 17th edition regs how do you carry out the testing of the RCD controlling a lighting circuit? I have seen the testing of RCD's controlling ring circuits with the use of a 'plug in' lead but not sure on how to test lighting circuit. Hope that makes sense, Thanks.
Got to fit an RCD to a NEWLEC CCU. - Want to fit a CTI one as its cheap. Are RCD's generally the same packaging especially the connection to the bus bar. -I used to swap about with Mcb suppliers and had the odd fitting problem but usually I fit a complete CCU rather than upgrade them.
been to look at a job yessterday, one part is in a shop and the other works is in the main house. both buildings have seperate electricitry supplies.
shop electric works will be straightforward as ive got tt system with 10mm main earth bond and bond to gas in 10mm also got a 30ma rcd to use...
Can anyone help; I have a potential customer who wants individual rcd protection on all circuits (approx 8 of)
I have fitted them a few years ago, but can't remember manufacturer, I do remember each rcd takes up two spaces in the consumer unit.
Can they still be used? All I can find is the...
