Well, i have just been to look at a mahoosive garden lighting project.
Landscapers are 50% done and have installed 2" solid ducts to where i need to get to.
Been looking at various external duct rods.
Does anyone have any recommendations?
I must admit, there only seems to be the Dart ones...
A little review on the cable rods.
I got a cheap or maybe not so cheap at 30 quid set from the wholesalers once and had half a day out of them. Shame the same could not be said about the fibreglass in my fingers that lasted till i got home and the missus pulled it out for me just before the...
Hello everyone,
Have been inspecting caravans statics at a 200+site. The levels of ZE are 8+ ohms at the caravan hook up and it is on a TT system (the incomming mains) to 4 or 5 submain distribution points where there is a common earth rod and from there via swa using the cable core or armourmed...
Has anyone got a recommendation for some rods?
I've been using a cheap Draper set, but they have broken twice this week at the joins, so I think it is about time I got a decent set.
Any thoughts?

Alan.
TN-S system. 20m run of 4.0mm SWA to ne CU in garage, supplying 3 lights and 4 sockets. RCD protected, lights on 6A breaker, sockets on 20A breaker.
Does this need and earth rod and why?
Why is the 3rd core of SWA not effiecient?
I'm confused because reading some older posts people are...
Having just read some posts regarding Ra values of an earth rod, and some disagreement of the values to obtain, i thought i would post a little guide.
Earthing Design Considerations
I have a new sub-main running from a Meter supply, which also supplies a consumer unit, which is earthed by an earth rod. Can the new sub-main share this earth rod or will it require a new one.
Evening all....
If anyone is still around;)
Well time has come to buy a set of rods, havent had a set for years always ended up snapping them and loosing all the different end bits. And also kept getting fibre galss splinters.
But had enough now of my MT2 lid which isnt really that great...
Morning chaps, I've come across a situation a few times with a TN-S supply with an additional earth rod banged in, presumably to get figures down to a satisfactory level, and I have always treated these as TN-S, earthing means-distributors facility with a little note saying about the earth rod...
I need a new set of rods do you guys / gals use the super rods or the cheap blue rods (£15 from e-bay)
or is there a product in between that's a decent quality
I am thinkig of buying a set of GRP (or similar) cable access rods and accessories. There seems to be a huge range available from super rod mega set at around £100 to smaller sets from silverline at around £15.
I was wondering what you guys have found the most useful and if one brand is better...
TT Supply.
Main CU, With earth to rod outside.
Second CU for storage heaters, Also on a seperate Rod outside.
I have been told this second rod is not needed for the second board, Aslong as the resistance of the first earth on the 1st CU is within the reg limits (lower than 200 Ohms) then...
hi all
we had a contractor testing earthing tapes on substations and had a clamp meter that read the ze / resistance just by clamping it around
cool piece of kit but never got the name or maker of it due to time etc anyone out there seen this kit before.
cheers
Ive used 'fish Rods for many years, and my current Rods were looking worse for wear, SO I was in my Local Suppliers Daton Elec and noticed they had some draper ones in, 10 Rods, 1 hook and 1 flexi lead with eyelet for £10.50, absolute bargain!
Is It OK to have both?
Some people seem to say it can create a dangerous PD, but is that right? If you have earth bonding thats not that different to an earth rod, as the pipes go through the earth.
I think I read somewhere in the regs or somewhere that an earth rod can be considered as a...
