Just trying to work out a cable and fuse size for a 3kva 415/240v transformer with a 2kW load on it, using Amtech single cable, there are no settings for showing a transformer on the load side, is it possible to calc a transformer load on Amtech.
If I use a motor as the load it chooses fuses...
Hi just fitting a secondary ccu to some kennels ad was just think that the secondary board main switch is 60 amps and the breaker supplying from the main board is 40 amp so if there was a problem the main board breaker would trip before the kennel one how do I combat this. New to the game guys...
I am currently working on my kitchen and I am centralising the switches for all appliances (Fridge, 2 Ovens, Induction Hob, Hood, Dishwasher, Washing Machine, boiler and counter sockets) on a secondary switchboard.
In order to do that I am running a 6mm multi-thread cable from the main...
Hi
I have been installing a Solar Thermal system (with a plumber friend) with a Glow-Worm Fluropro controller, and the system has a secondary return pump on it. I can't find any live output for the pump.
I could just put the pump on a plug-in timer, but in the manual it states that the system...
Hi,
Could anyone give me some advice on methods of testing 12v transformers if at all possible? Why I ask is because been to a customers because one of the under cabinet 12v lights wasn't working. First I tried changing the lamp which didn't work but worked in another fitting. Then just assumed...
I will refer a weird voltage readings on my mate's workplace.. A newly installed transformer delta-wye, 440/380V will supply a TT power system. He measured 380V per phase on the secondary and 220V L-N.. But when he measured L3 to earth he measured 0V. L1 and L2 to earth is 380V and Neutral to...
again would sincerely appreciate a bitof help
have a client who wants a mix of stuff doing all in small numbers not really my normal work but have splashed out on a seward 250 to accomadate him and having a few issues on a coulpe of things namely 110 v transformers

hi all
I have been asked to change a consumer unit in a house. Most of the house is covered by a new consumer unit (17th ed.) and all the bonding to gas and water is covered by this. The consumer unit i am changing covers the electrics in an old extension that consists of 2 bedrooms and a...
Hi all,
I need to run a supply to a summer house, there's no room in fuse board for another circuit. I was going to split the main tails with 100A DP service connection box and put in small 1 way C/U, run the cable in swa then add another 2 way C/U at summer house. Is this the best way or is...
I've got a very well made 24 volt, 50 hertz, 81 watt pump, however I do NOT have a transformer/converter. I'm from down-under, so we run on between 220 to 250 volts. Is there a nifty trick one can do to get this thing running on 240 volts? Can I put a different transformer in-line with a...
Hi guys, this is my first post here (though I've been lurking around and reading for a while) and I have a question.
A customer has has a house that used to be two flats. The main CU (downstairs) is fairly new (about 6 years old, I'm told) but I don't think to 17th edition as only a few of the...
Hi all,
I have a scheme in which the Y-Y VT secondary yellow phase is earthed. and is fed to a 2watt meter energy meter. can you explain why this is done so.

Hi,
I have replaced this twice and they have both blown within a few minutes of fitting. There are 3 lights on the circuit each with their own transformer and a dimmer switch. This installation has been up for 10 years with no problems till now, the other 2 lights are fine. 2 transformers...
hi everyone,
i'm doing a photovoltaic installation this week and i've got a bit of an awkward problem to get around...
the pv array is going on the roof of a secondary building that is completely separate from the main house. the problem is that the secondary building has its own supply so if i...
I am installing a 7.5kva transformer 240v / 110v single phase .
The primary side of the transformer is fed from a 32A type D mcb and wired in 3 core 10mm swa from a board next to the transformer .
The secondary side is wired in 10mm 3 core swa and feeds a 12 way enclosure next to the...
I am refurbing an old BMS control panel the panel is about 15 years old and had Satchwell controls in, I am now fitting Trend I have been told that the controls/ panel never really worked. I have got half way through the refurb and I have a problem with the 0-10 volt signals, they seem to do...
I want to understand the concept for through faults in case of transformers.
For example, there is an external fault on secondary side of a generator step up transformer, so when it is said that all through current will pass through the transformer, does it mean that current is now flowing in...
My pal has asked for a power supply for lights and sockets in his garage and so can I just ask if the following would be ok ???
32A MCB at the main CU to protect garage feed.
2.5mm SWA run of 30m to the garage
Secondary CU in garage with 1 20A radial for 3 socket outlets and 1 6a lighting...
Afternoon all,
Just a quick one, When calculating the Zs on a circuit fed from a secondary distribution unit do you add the R1+R2 of both the circuit under test and the cable feeding the second distribution unit to the Ze or is it just the R1R2 of the test circuit to the Ze ??
I have a number of RCCBs and ELRs installed in my installation which have never been tested aside from pushing the TEST button. I would lke to carry out a more comprehensive test with respect to the pickup and timing delays. In absence of a conventional RCD tester, could I just use a normal...
