Hi guys,
I’m currently serving in the army, but I’ll be leaving next year. I’m looking at doing a 6 month course at a center called trade skills 4 you in Gatwick, to get me C&G level 3 qualified in electrics. My question is, would any employers typically take on someone with only 6 months...
Hi looking for some help about faults and symptoms and difference between short circuit, dead short, and overcurrent to know which fault you have.
Is short circuit line and and neutral fault
dead short zero resistance and a tripped breaker
And overcurrent to much current in circuit causing...
HELLO
i had an short circuit in my house!neutral to live short circuit!
the 30a old mcb is tripped but the 1361 13a fuse in the plug did not disconected!
why did not disconnect 13a 1361 fuse sooner then 30a mcb?
I tested the fuse in the plug still good, so the short circuit did not reach to...
Hi I hope someone might be able to offer some advice to a DIYer?
So I've been using my dishwasher for years and only just noticed the cable is getting hot, enough to feel very hot to touch. Only at one point for about 3 inches back from the plug (a moulded plug)
I've read around and found the...
I have a very small circuit in my house. Probably 8 outlets 6 lights. The breaker for this circuit has a direct short somewhere. It didn't start this way. At first it would stay energized for a couple of minutes then trip. The more I reset it the shorter it would last. Now it trips immediately...

Morning all.
I am replacing a 1g socket, with a 2g socket. Because I cant (cant be bothered :tearsofjoy:) make the hole in the wall bigger, I am going to make it surface mounted.
The cables are too short, and they do no stretch the extra distance to cover the backbox. Ive been told about these...
Evening all,
I'm new to this so apologies in advance if I'm posting in the wrong threads.

Good evening
A cable was loose in a ceiling void causing a short circuit this didn't trip the 10 amp 6ka type b mcb but tripped the 50 amp type b 6ka mcb that supplied that board back at the mains.
I am wondering why this occurred other than me thinking the local protection isn't very...
Short Circuit Line to Neutral where does the Current go after the consumer Unit?
I assume it goes back to the Sub-Station where it is earthed but i'm trying to find this written in a official book etc but finding nothing.
Thanks

Hey,
We are putting in a Honeywell flex alarm. It's all wired in (following the manual). The problem is that all the sensors are coming up as having a short circuit and I can't work out why. I've wired it up with my friend (who is an electrician) and we really can't work out the problem...
Micc readings on a 4 core 10 mm are 4 cores to earth 1.09 ohms and between cores 1.70 ohms tested at 500volts cable supplies main DB and off peak DB both backed up by 60 A bs88 fuse, what's the resistance reading likely to be before it goes bang?
Have a 3 way light switch (three separate lights) one light works (middle switch) 2 don’t. Think that the 2 that don’t work shorted out when a multi socket plug was inserted in adjacent room. That plug still works. Anyone got any ideas?

Would you divide the 5.13 ohms by 4.
I personally don’t think so.
Also the R1 /Rn short circuit resistances are different from the usual R1 /R2 measurements.
Found those in an electrical book by,that man.
The Zs on this circuit was above the permitted figure,so just had a play around to see if...
