What size cable is used to connect a residential 100amp sub panel from an existing 100amp panel, 75 feet away?
All Breakers will be removed from the main panel and move to the new subpanel.
I am installing 3 core SWA using a piranha nut. What size of earthing lead to connect the piranha nut to earth terminal do I need? Does it also need to be 10mm or I can get away with 6mm?
Hello,
I'm a plumber by trade and I need to fit an electric shower, it's already got a power supply doesn't look man enough for a 8.5kW electric shower, i was hoping you could point me in the right direction to make compatible.
Want to install a garden shed with Tumble Dryer and separate garden office building. I have run duct from side of house to where garden shed is going to be, then run another duct to where garden office is going to be. I am planning of having the office heated by electric most likely a plinth...
Hi everyone,
On a job at the moment and trying to
Work out cable size needed for property supply. Lots going on and struggle to work out potential loads of new build not built yet.

Thinking of getting a Runpotec XB300 cable dispenser, as my yellow framed tripod thing is unsatisfactory for all the usual reasons.
You can screw in a "Runpostick" (Runpotec's version of super rods) to extend the stubby little mandrel so you can put several drums on (e.g. singles for conduit)...
This is a solar tie in generating 22 amps max current, hence the 25a/2p breaker on the subpanel but is there any reason the breaker feeding the subpanel has to be an 80a/2p? Can it be a 50a/2p?

Client currently has a DB in his outhouse. It feeds a pool pump and an air source heat pump. It is currently being supplied using a 4mm T&E cable. He wants the DB moved to his garage. It will still supply the two pumps but also a socket circuit in the garage. Having done my cable calcs, 4mm will...

Operating time of protective conductor = 0.15 s
Constant k, for the material of the conductor = 134

Just want to make sure I've got this right,
I am adding a 60 AMP subpanel for a detached garage/workshop with a 200 foot underground conduit run from the main panel to the sub panel. Planning to use schedule 40 PVC. I have consulted with a local electrical inspector and determined that I should use 2 2 2 4 Aluminum THHN/THWN. However he...
I've tried to understand one way or another but this seems to be connected to the DNO fuse/cutout, and then loops down (out of sight) and comes back up to connect to the outer sheath.
The bonding looks like 6mm^2. And the connection point looks like that's the max it will take. As I understand...
Hi All,
I'm looking at installing an induction hob in my kitchen (upgrade from gas) and I gather that it can be added to the cooker circuit if there's enough capacity.
In the fuse box and at the cooker end, the cooker circuit is wired in with 6sqmm cable, but only has a 16A MCB which I gather...
Hi guys. I was wondering what size cable and braker I'd need for an electric shower.
Just out of intrest am I close in guessing as follows:
The shower unit is an 8.5kw. Total meters to C/U is about 15meters. 10mm cable, 40A fuse. the cable will be solely for the shower supply, and RCD 1way...
when wiring a 240v 50 amp breaker, for example, does each hot wire have to be rated for 50 amps or 25 amps per wire? 100 amp breaker, 50 amps per wire or 100 per wire. I think I know the answer but not sure. thx.
Does this matter? I've fitted a Fusebox consumer unit and I didn't have enough 32A MCB's but too many 6A's. The SPD is fed from a 32A one, what's the deal with swapping them around. They are voltage operated not current operated so should be fine right?
The customer has suggested from a previous electrician that the oven requires a new circuit installed . Upon viewing the instructions it is stated that the total power consumption is 5kw and cable size should be 2.5mm .
The customer has a kitchen ring main with a previous fuse spur for a cooker...
Incoming supply on our job comes into the building and then the tails from which go into a switched isolator with 200A fuses fitted.
No idea what size the incoming fuses are or incoming conductor sizes. Would have to contact the DNO but not sure whether they would give that info to anyone or...
