When sleeving a 3 core 3 phase Brown, Black, Grey cable as a single phase cable, which core of the Black and Grey are to be sleeved as Neutral and Earth.
Some lads are saying Black as Neutral and others are saying Grey as Neutral.
I can't find a specific answer in the reqs.
Hi,
I have a technical query in regards colour sleeving of conductors in a multicore cable. Take a 5 core 2.5sqmm XLPE SWA cable with all white conductor insulation. I want to use this cable for lighting circuits in an industrial installation, can I sleeve the cores to they’re respective phase...
Working on a hose over the last couple of days which had the lighting wored in singles on the ground floor with line through the switches, and T+E as switch wires from loop in upstairs. Anyway, whilst sleeving them up when replacing the fittings I was pondering how others do it. It's all in...
Im getting really sick of going to jobs that have been done in the last few years where the electrician hasnt used sleeving, grommets ect. Im finding it very rare for electricians to bother with this stuff.

Have measured R1 + R2 and get a total of .45 ohms, when I test the ring with my tester I get 2.1ohms, the unit was calibrated last week, any ideas?
Hi people, not sure this is the right section, but if I chose to do a CU change for a Part P scheme's assessment, I know I don't become responsible for the entire installation but is it my responsibility to ensure brown sleeving is placed on every switch live throughout the installation?
What is best practice when replacing an existing SWA cable 3 core (old colours) with a larger SWA cable 3 core (new colours?)
Both the house and garage wiring are in old colours (single phase)

Right, if i'm supplying a three phase motor in swa, obviously taking brown/black/grey to their respective colours at the mcb, do I have to sleeve all of them brown to indicate live conductors or are the fact that they are phase colours sufficient? Not sure whether to sleeve them at the motor or...

Heres a good one ,can anyone out there inform me that if i take down an existing light fitting to replace it with an identical one and the wiring is good but the old colours (red, black, green) do i have to remove the earth sleeve and put on the yellow and green sleeve to comply with the 17th...
I have 3mm and 4mm G/Y sleeving and can't see me using the 4mm sleeving. Gonna return it I think. Made the mistake in mixing up cable size (mm²) and diameter(mm) when purchasing:rolleyes:.
Anyway, this 3mm sleeving provides a lose fit on 2.5mm² copper core. Anyone know if provides a 'just...
Can anyone help, please?
I have lived here in Portugal for 8 years and understand that following the wiring colour code changes that happened in the UK during 2004/2006 the codes for both countries are the same for fixed mono phase installations (Brown, Blue and Green/Yellow). I´m not an...
