First time i have worked with steel conduit as a cpc and wondering how to get a decent R2 test.
The back boxes are showing signs of corrosion and so is the conduit where it is exposed so would like to test to see if i'll need to add a cpc to the circuits.
I have a kewtech 65dl tester and...
hi everyone
i've recently started using steel conduit and so far most of the jobs where i've used it have been fairly simple (straight runs). i've got a job that requires quite a few 90 bends to be made (i've bought a hilmor bender and have been practising using it) i've just got a few...
Hi
Just got a quick question. I install CCTV systems and want to start using steel conduit instead of PVC.
Do I need to ground the conduit if it will only have CAT6 network cable inside.
Thanks
I was wondering last night, or should I say wandering, when I were a Lad working with steel and Galv conduit, I distinctly recall the Electricians I was working with always gad me filing the ends of couplers, locknuts etc and also removing the pain from entries into steel enclosures, I know in...
Hi,
I was just wondering what the best way to connect PVC to steel conduit is? I was thinking PVC male adaptor and a steel conduit coupler?
Cheeeeeeeeeeers :D
How's this for a means of earthing this steel conduit is acting as a tt arrangement, although brilliant ze readings, 6.41 ohms 34a. What do you all think to this.
quick question does steel conduit need bonding at the start and finish of the run, because i have a job coming off soon replacing some metal twin fan extract units to plastic inline fans, at the moment the conduit it attached to the fan and the fan is earthed via a separate cpc in the conduit...
I plan to install steel conduit (used as cpc) in a garage / workshop. I intend to run the conduit in a complete loop around the garage, i.e. starting at one point, going around all four walls and then back to the point at which I started. I want to do this because it makes wiring easier, i.e...
Did the 2394 written exam found it fairly simple enough. I hope haha got a question come up about steel conduit it said
a steel conduit system needs to be check before any cable is installed name five checks you would carry out and what you are doing by doing each check?
just wanna see if...
Excuse my ignorance on this, never had to test a RFC when the conduit was being used as the CPC.
Obviously can't do the usual test for continuity so can't tick that box on the form, will just note that it's an earthed conduit set up.
Where I get more confused is the R1+R2 measurement seeing as...
I'm hoping a few of the older members might remember this. I need to know what the standard wall thickness used to be for the very old type threaded steel conduit (20 and 25mm equivalents). I'm guessing the diameter and wall thickness was in imperial sizes so I also need to know what the...
Not done this for a while. What's the going rate per point. standard metal clad sockets, spurs and switches. Light fittings budget fluorescent. Runs aren't long. We are sub for main contractor in SE.
Any help appreciated. Thanks
i have a practical assessmet coming up and the problem im struggling with is the steel conduit. Well its a double set out of the C.U and its roughly 15-20 mm from back of conduit to the wall. im not using an angled ruler, the main problem i have is where do i put my second mark on the conduit in...
I was looking at someone's hall lighting the other day as neither of the fittings work.
It's 2 way with 2 fittings in an apartment all wired in singles in steel conduit.
There's power to & leaving switch A but no power at either fitting or switch B so there must be a cable break somewhere, only...
I have to bend some steel conduit as shown in the picture about how would you get the angles spot on? The picture isnt really accurate as i belive the 2 sets will be similar. doing it another way isnt an option as thats how the client wants it too look like. the black opject is a wall support...
Hi everyone.
May have a job coming up in a school where there may be a floor socket needed.
The socket is about a metre away from the wall.
Not sure if to use pvc or steel as it will be screeded after.
Its at a depth of 100 mil.
Thanks,
Hi every one,
Im new to this forum. FNG!. A simple question that I cant seem to find the answer to is can I run TnE in steel conduit? I know singles would be the best option but the customer has lots of TnE and wants to keep the cost down. I would strip out the cable but I dont have enough...
