Got to check the elements on an old Dimplex storage heater tomorrow, it must be around 3kW. Couldn't remember how to get into the older models! I know the newer ones have 2 retaining screws on the bottom edge to release the front panel, but this old beast does not have them. Any clues?
Hi,
Just thought id share with you my newly made MCB storage setup and charging station.
I just need to fit a smoke detector in the charging station so that I can leave batteries unattended whilst on charge as in the garage.
Also, some photos of the lights I have just fitted to the side of...
Hi all, I want to replace all the night storage heaters in my flat to something more economical and something that can be controlled whenever it is needed not just at night, does anybody have any suggestions? They need to be as economical as possible to keep running costs down. Have considered...
Hi All
just got the panels up today on my own house install went fairly well, 8 on 8, 2 strings, south facing, Seraphim 250 watts.
Just looking for battery storage & monitoring of the system so I can log in & show potential savings, unsure if this is possible or not, never installed battery...
Hi.
I have economy 7 white meter storage heaters which were running on a three rate meter. The meter had a day rate, a night rate and a separate storage heater rate. Everything worked fine. After the meter was changed to a standard single rate meter my storage heaters now no longer heat up over...
Looking at ways to survive post 2015, and remembered a possible project we'd looked at a while back for a housing association in flats with all electric storage heating, which means that solar pv qualifies for ECO funding under the HHCRO stream.
But I can't find any guidance on how to calculate...
First post guys,
I am looking at adding battery back up to my system, however i dont quite understand how if the energy generated from the panels is being used to charge the battery, how then does that unit register on the generation meter? The way i see it, is that it wont and therefore id...

Having a bit of a brain fart moment guys and would appreciate some input, please bare with me! The domestic economy rate I believe is the new name for economy 7. I am aware that the off-peak time for this tariff varies slightly region/weather depending.
Basing my question on a distant family...
Looking for help on the following. On a site we have 3 10000 litre diesel storage tanks all built to the relevant standards however the pumpset is fitted with a standard 13 amp plug top plugged into a metalclad twin switched socket. I am sure this is not right but cannot find the relevant regs...
Hello all,
I am thinking of adding battery storage to my existing setup to increase self-consumption and provide backup for power cuts. Currently I have 16 x 230W panels feeding 2 + 2 kW StecaGrid inverters installed in 2011.
If I were to add for example a Victron MultiPlus 48/3000/35-50 in...
I have completed and tested a circuit which diverts excess power from a solar panel array into a load within the house rather than exporting the power. I would like to use the diverted power to store the energy as heat in a fan assisted "storage heater" , there is no hot water tank, but I am...
Just been notified of a price drop in this new storage system by Tesla
Anyone considering this ???

OK; so with slowly degressing PV FiT payments, though still the loophole (until everyone has smart meters :)) of deemed export - and probably even then, the future is definitely looking towards options that will include storage so that you can use the generated power when you actually need it...
Hi quick question guys,
I was called out to a storage heater not working, turned out the thermal cut off had tripped, customer doesn't dry any clothes on it and I believe this to be true, I've had to return to it again, I've cleaned it out completely to make sure it wasn't a build up of dust...
Hi
After some good ideas on van tool storage and lay out, does anyone know of a good website I can have a look at ?
I'm wanting to make it as anti theft as possible, got a good collection and don't want some thieving scum robbing it
Cheers
Just looked at a domestic call out. Storage heaters have stopped working. Next to the consumer unit is a Horstmann 80A timer clock, you know the typical steam punk Bakelite. This looks burnt out. Any recommendations for a replacement. Not familiar with this type of circuit arrangement.
I am currently installing a infra red heating system in a house. I have removed 9 storage heaters that were fed by the economy 7 supply. The economy 7 also feeds the immersion which will be the only circuit left on this supply.
My question:
is it possible / cost effective to remove the economy...
