Hi, on our annual pv assesement we had a NC due to the irradiance level when testing the strings being recorded at 58 W/m2, so reasonably dull/overcast i guess but not exactly dark. I never knew that the minimum level has to be 200w/m2, does anyone know where this is documented please?? Our...
Found a shower pull cord switch within zone 1 of a shower. Can't tell the manufacturers details so can't ask them. So does anyone know what the general rating for these switches are? (Thought I saw something posted on here once, possibly by Spin?).
Either way not a great installation and it was...
My installation has 2 strings. Sometimes the Riso test fails on one string - showing a Riso of less than 1 Mohm. Therefore it fails the start sequence. I have had the supplier inspect this after a failure and he has diligently checked for water leaks, fretted insulation etc. and he has remade...
Hello - could anyone tell me if a set of string lights purchased from the US (120v60hz) can be used in the UK with a transformer or just a simple adaptor?
Globe String Lights, Indoor/Outdoor, Plug-In, 25 G40 Bulbs, White Wire, CLEAR
Thank you!
I had 3.96Kw system installed along with a mastervolt K5500 inverter last November. We had various issues with performance and the system apparently tripping out the mains, which in the end was rectified by swapping to the non rcd side of my fuse board, but at the time, the electrician who came...
Anyone had a DC isolator arc out on them? first time today switched on array and smoke poored out plus the conacts arching out big time!!!!all rated correctly replaced it and all was fine but (bit of a wake up call :) supplier said he supplied thousands and never had a prob so JUST ASKING out of...
Hi everyone,
I'm new so please be gentle with me. My husband a fire safety officer and has been asked to look into the possible complications of solar during a domestic house fire. He has looked at enecsys micro inverters and understands that these are safe because the system shuts down when...
I wouldn't do it but a client asked about an east/west split on one string. I couldn't quite describe how bad the effect would be? Would the 8 on the east side(shaded eg.) drag the current down from the 8 on the west (sun shining on)? Or any other answers? Much appreciated
Hi
I'm interested to know what the relationship is between the two scales on these graphs; AC Watts generated and DV Volts. This is the last two days output from our 20 panel 4kw installation.
Can anyone explain it in plain English? :)
I have installed two strings of eight panels on a single story building. The top row of eight seem to be performing well. But the bottom string performs only about half to two thirds of the top.
Midday results yesterday which was sunny .......
String 1 240v and 1113w
String 2 261v and 493w...
We have 14 panels on a west facing roof wired as two string of 7, and seven panels on a south facing roof, all connected to a Sunny Beam 4000TL.
Looking at the DC readings on the inverter, rather than seeing one (south facing) input high in the morning and the second (west facing) low, then...
hi everyone.
I don't suppose anyone has a template for a 3 string P.v installation schematic that they wouldn't mind sharing?! my email is [email protected]. Thanks in advance
Tom
How does one determine the optimum start up voltage? I have a 3.6 kwp system in two equal strings into an Aurora 3.6 OUT inverter. Facing SSE with a little shading. The inverter comes with a default start up voltage of 200v. I think each string can be adjusted independantly down to 110v.Sensible...
I am a solar installer and i have been told that i can use a mc4 splitter to connect 1 string in to both connections on inverter as they had done this before to spread the load surly this can not be right.
as a splitter is used for 2 strings going in to 1 not the other way around
Do you carry out AC IR tests with generation meter (elster) connected ie from inverter to disconnected conductors at the board, or will this damage the meter? I've been linking it out but apart from the test not being true to the installation it can be a pig if the meter is in an awkward spot...
Hi whats best performance on following 1 x string of 12 x 250w ET solar panels
or split into 2 x strings 6x6! Danfoss new to me and havnt got pv sol (same roof west 30 deg pitch) just when one of u get bored:) dual mpp model !
Hello everybody,
this is really useful forum i ve learned a lot from you guys!
I am writing from Croatia and soon I will instal my first PV. But I have some doubts, maybe you can help me.
System is:
KACO Powador 12.0 TL (2 MPPT, every can hold 2 strings, range 200-800V) and
52 Luxor 190W...
I have a quote which I would like to go ahead with, but with the proposed cut off with fits, will the below system have any problems with SSE DNO and how would I complete the application form to ensure no problems as there is no space to state two invertors. or would it be safer to reduce by...
Evening guys, relatively new to pv and just finding out info from as many installers as possible.
Would you use more than 1 string wherever possible for potential shading issues or just keep to 1?
whats you best advice/tips on stringing sequences?
All feedback appreciated
Cheers
I have a dilemma. A prospective customer has an East facing roof which I can get 10 SANYO HIT-N240SE10 (the smaller size panels). He would also like me to fit 4 panels on a South facing elevation. I realise micro inverters would be the simplest solution but could I use 2 standard inverters on...
