hi all
ima spark not mcs but have done some bits of solar installs for others.
my question is this...
i have 2 rows of pannels 15 in all (7 in one eight in the other) and they are wired back in 2 pairs.
ie at the dc isolator i have 2 lives and two neutrals.
ive been told that i need an 8 pole...
Both inverters gonna be fitted in an open barn (fronius ig plus) One is going to a holiday cottage (58m overhead run) and the other to the house (55m overhead run).
I`m thinking 4mm cable for each due to voltage drop.
Cause its a farm and open barn what ya think on the height of the...
Hi all I have just had a 3920KW Sharp 16 X 245W panels fitted with a Solar River SR4K4TLA1 inverter.
There are 2 strings. One is currently reading around 330V and the other is just below 200V.
6 of the panels are landscape and 10 are portrait. I have since found out that 6 are on one string...

I am using 16 x 245w REC panels and a 3.6 Fronius inverter.
Max PPT voltage for the Fronius is 700V and the voc for the panels is 37.2V (x 16 = 595.2V)
So no problem to have it on 1 string.
Orientation and pitch exactly the same for all panels,
Min PPT 350V (8 x 37.2V = 297.6V). Does this...
Hi,
Installed 2 Mastervolts over the past 2 days (the first time we've used them) and we are having an issue with both of them!!!
They haven't clocked anything on the generation meter at all. I've checked the wiring on each of them it just seems highly unlikely that there are 2 faulty...

Check your emails, segen droped their credit limit.
Meanwhile stock available from some suppliers is on the increase, over a grand for an inverter thats normally £800?
Order ive got on with one supplier have removed the panels from my order! Good job i checked.
Its not even monday!!!!!!
We have been asked to design a system 14 panels on South 2
panels on West. What is the minimum amount of panels
on one string? Not convinced that west panels will get enough
daylight to activate?

Quick question....Have install with very slight shading early and late in the winter/autumn only.
3000TL with the 2 x MPPT split 2 x 6 or 3000TL/HF with 1 x 12 string?
Question really is does 2 strings x 6 modules compare with one long 1 string x 12 modules? Yield v similar on Sunny Design but...
I just picked up a 3.9 kw kit, 20x 195w panels. When The seller saw my roof layout he informed me the inverter that was with the kit would not be suitable as the instalation was spread over two roofs at right angle to each other. The lay out will be 7 panels on the smaller roof and 13 on the...
Hi Guys,
I am newly MCS accredited and have had a roofer approach me and ask me to install and commissiong a pv tile system(tiles are c21e solar tile, from solar centuray). It has 2 invertors, one invertor for18 of the tiles at 47 watt each and the other invertor for 12 tiles at 47 watt...

Hi, Im trying to match an inverter to 9 Suntech 190 24AD+ Mono panels. It wont allow 9 in one string but will allow 2 strings of 4.
I'm trying to get it to show 1 string of 4 and 1 string of 5, is this possibe or am I not using the software properly?
TIA

I'm looking at a job which could have 6 250 panels on a South face and 10 250W panels on the East face. Is it okay to use a SB 4000TL for this? Will these seperate strings affect each other adversly or can this inverter allow the two strings to work independently?
Thanks again for all the...
I am designing a 2.3kw on roof pv sytem at the moment but am having trouble sizing an inverter, for 15 modules in 3 parallel strings, so the easy option is to go for 14 mods in 2 strings. The question is could the strings be imbalanced? ie 1 string of 8 and 1 string of 7 in parallel, thus...

...please go easy on me I am new to this :D! I have just passed my MCS and am actively pricing my first 2 jobs. I'm doing a bit of research before I appear before the enquirers. Both systems are fairly large for domestic; 3kw and 7.5kw. I haven't even started looking at the larger one. My...

Inverters are sunny boy SMC 9000 TLS-20
Each inverter has three strings of 14 230w = 126 modules
The system is around 28KW
G59 Protection is required.
I was thinking of wiring each seperate array with the 3 strings in a junction box in paralell to each inverter so only one dc...

Hi
I'm getting confused about the use of string fuses.
In the dti guide 4 or more strings in parallel require string fuses to be used in the design of a system.
In certain sma inverters, for example the tri power tl8000 they already have string fuses built in. There are 4 d/c inputs on...
Does anyone have any experience of the SMA 10000TL inverter? I was wondering whether the number of strings had an effect on the 3 phase output of the inverter. For example, does the array need to be arranged as 3 seperate strings?
A pretty fundamental question I have here....
I was under the impression that the effects of shading could be negated slightly by using seperate strings, even on inverters with single MPP trackers. However, speaking to a rep earlier, he told me that seperating the strings would have zero...
I have a couple of questions regarding PV systems if anyone can help
1) Thinking of Ohms law, how does a grid tie inverter match the mains grid power
set up 2.76Kwp system of 12 panels at 230w
e.g. - Vmp 29.9 Imp 7.69
in 1 string it would mean a system Vmp of 358.8 V and IMP of 7.69, but...
