Just need something I can adjust to the correct level and then leave behind a panel and just switch off and on with a lightswitch .
Hi, someone has ordered Steel Tape Armoured cable instead of SWA. Can I use this armour as a CPC the same as SWA or not and if so is there a table so that I can check the figures.
Secondly, correct me if I am wrong but 3ph with a reduced neutral should only be used on a balanced load ie a...
I'm installing a new supply to a ceremoniously dumped welfare cabin. I can't see any legitimate reason not to apply section 717, welfare units are specifically mentioned and the thing is a mobile/transportable unit. In turn this dictates that it shouldn't be connected to a TN earth as to my...
So I recently changed my light switch and thought it was OK but in the evening the lights started flickers and when I switched on one light it turned another one off in the bathroom so I presume I have done something wrong even though I though I matched it up in the same way as my old switch.one...
Hi all,
I've had a complete rewire in my house as part of a renovation. I've noticed two things that I wonder if they are in line with regs:
1) the electrician has not put the little bit of brown tape over the blue or black wires that are switched live. Is the brown tape just best practice or...
Doing an EICR today in an old thatched property. Old wall light in hall, obviously not enough room behind to enclose the connections.

Hi, I'm a council tenant and just had some work done in my kitchen, which included a new electrical installation. There was previously a single sockets ring main, and a new kitchen sockets ring main was added, which in itself seems fine. But I'm concerned about the pre-existing ring main. This...

Just wondering the best way to connect 12 LED Tape into mains lighting circuit - I only ask because its currently used in my house as cupboard downlighting in the kitchen and i've been told that this isn't allowed, but i think its fine.
Basically, a switched live and neutral from a...
someone gave me one of these, thought it would be handy for estimation long cable runs, and for measuring for downlights etcc. well it turns out i can guess more accurately. sometimes it works fine, other times it's 3 metres out. waste of time, have to keep checking with the tape so whats the...
Doing some building & electrical work this week for a customer. Found live cables buried in wall. Told customer & they said they had paid another electrical contractor to remove these cables & that were previously connected to wall lights. Obvisally he removed wall lights & buried cable.

Kind Regards
John
