I'm trying o identify a wire terminal, I've been through all the usual data sheets for Molex, Panduit etc and can't find it. Wondered if anyone could put a name or reference number to it.
The terminal I'm looking for is a crimped female pin terminal that's used on domestic and small commercial...
Hi Everyone,
Ive been having a nightmare when trying to install a new 2 way light switch in my house,
I currently have normal single gang 2 way light switches in my living room, on one of them there is a C terminal, and L1 and an L2, with 1 wire going to C and 2 wires going to each of the L1...
I want to upgrade the main protective bonding conductors on the gas/water from 6.0mm to 10mm.
Its a bit frustrating when the original bonding condutors along with the main earthing conductor are all conected into an earthing terminal, which is in the side of the main service head....which means...
Well, firstly I ought to say that I think it's a broken switch!
I've checked that power is getting to the switch, but when you turn the dial and it 'clicks' there is still no power output in the returning line down to the elements.
I can't see what else it could be? Open to offers though...

Is this correct. We have removed a 2KW air extraction fan today to relocate. L1L2L3 connected to U1V1W1 but their wasn't any links fitted to make either star or delta.
There's no plate attached anywhere either.
How come, always thought the links had to be fitted to make star or delta for the...
Hi guys,
Been getting a bit of practice with my new Metrel MI3000.
Most functions are fine, but I'm a little confused by the Z Loop impedance test.
In the book, it shows the Line, Neutral and PE probes being connected to their respective terminals on the board.
When I do this and press test...

Hi i went to a job today to replace an existing PIR. the existing one only had a L,N and E terminal. The new one has L,N,E and PL terminal. the cable going to the separate PIR is a 1.5 twin and earth. Am i right in thinking it needs a 3 core and Earth? or can it still be done with a Twin and...
Good evening all!
I have discovered this evening (whils't re-setting the RCD) that when applying light pressure to the RCCB in my Crabtree Starbreaker CU, the connection into the busbar arcs severely and all circuits on this side of the CU flicker.
I have tried re-seating the RCCB but has made...

Do RCBOs normally have 2 flying leads - neutral and earth?
Are there "old" rcbos and new types.
The reason I ask is that I have bought Proteus RCBOs and they have a flying neutral wire only.
I've never fitted RCBOs before and am just a bit confused.
Any explanations appreciated.

Hi,
An electrical cooker stays on for a while and trips the RCD. When the RCD switched back on straight away, the cooker stays on for a length of time and trips again (doesn't trip straight away). The circuit tests OK and the MCB stays on all the time.
What could be issue and where...
Looked at a job today on a TNS installation where the customer wanted a shower replacing. The gas and water supplier did not have any Main Protective bonding attached. The Main Earthing Terminal only had a single connection point to which the Earthing conductor was attached and then attached to...
can some one confirm which terminal is live and which is neutral.
Looking at photos on line am i correct in assuming the rear terminal is the live and front neutral.
Got a call from a fellow sparks saying i had done it backwards
How do you guys do it? Referring to the two pictres below, what are the pro's and cons to the two different methods? I'm trying to settle a minor dispute with a friend :)
Why is it that when the DNO provide an earth at the head they fit a cover over the terminals that you cant get off unless you remove the cutout and cut the seals. Why cant they provide an earth block at the side of the head if you not supposed to access their terminal. They have supplied alot of...
