Hi Lads,
I have recntly carried out remedial works on the back of someone else's report which look quite impressive.
A different customer has advised me to show an interest in this work as part of our service but no, ahem nudges in the right direction on what they pay from other contractors...
"oh my HW is not working"
Either 3 things, voltage not going through stat, through thermal cut out switch, or its not pulling any amps and change the whole lot. But recently I have been having to reset LOADS of thermal cutouts. I know they trip because it gets too hot. My question is, why do...
Looking at increasing the portfolio of technologies that we can do and been looking at Air Source Heat Pumps.
On the face of it in the right situation these Air to water pumps seem to really have a lot going for them. When RHI kicks in even better.
But I am getting a lot of conflicting...
Is solar thermal a waste of money ?
Just been doing some calculations regarding 1 x Evacuated tube collector 15 tubes and twin coil tank 180l with 96l solar storage connected to gas boiler 104m2 bungalow South facing.
Savings made £27 per year approx install cost £3300.00
payback 122 years

Hi Guys,
Over the last two or three months, we've received hundreds of enquiries from tradesmen and women who are considering using a thermal camera to benefit their line of work.
As some of you may know, section 4.9 in the back of the IET Guidance Note 3 publication highlights the benefits of...

Hi there I'm Carlos.
I'm new to this forum and I really hope I'm posting in the correct section for this question, but I really couldn't find any other section nor could I find anything when I searched for it. My question is in the title really. I've looked almost everywhere and have come to...
Has anyone considered training in other technologies - Solar thermal, ASHP etc?
Do you think it is worth getting plumbing training as there looks like there may be a fair bit of work from the Green Deal in the future?
Just considering our gameplan at the moment.
I am being asked to quote for some solar pv, solar thermal and gshp on a listed building. The solar pv will be a TIC of 10kW. There is no requirement for baths/showers, just hot water for a kitchen. Although I will of course quote and probably fit whatever they want, with the advent of...
Hi everyone, I am being constantly asked about this subject from industrial customers regarding surveys using the cameras etc.
Ive read up on most things regarding the cameras and uses etc and I realise the costs as well

Need to carry out some testing over a couple of sites using one of these devices. We have hired them in the past, but I can't recall where we got the last one from. We are based in Taunton, Somerset. Does anyone know of a reasonably local firm that could sort us out?
Thanks
Monty
Can anyone give me a wee bit of guidance on what exactly an immersion tank with a thermal cut-out looks like?
Is it a separate piece of equipment from the thermostat fitted onto the tank? Or is the thermostat and cut out housed in the one thing on the tank
Basically, doing (only my second)...
I was totally shocked to find out when registering a solar thermal and a heat pump installation we carried out that no EPC is required, how an earth does that work when they both involve heat loss, yet pv producing electricity requires it? Proof they are trying to kill the pv industry :61:
Solar energy, glowing, heat & light, room the sun has been connected by humans since ancient times using a range of ever-evolving technologies. Solar energy technologies can support solar heating, solar photovoltaic, solar thermal electricity and solar architecture, which can make large...
