We have a Karcher SC4 steamer, it was working well until today. Now when you plug the appliance in it trips the fuse in the consumer unit. I have tried to plug it in elsewhere to make sure it was overloading, and it still does the same. I opened the device to take a look and run a continuity...
Hello good people.
I have an ongoing issue with a top entry immersion heater over heat stat that keeps Tripping out. (Built into stat) On a 24hr mechanical timer.

The original stat worked fine for about 3...
Help please, we've had a brand new Bosch washing machine delivered twice now and both times it's tripping the circuit as soon as it starts the cycle (not when it's initially turned on). The old machine never had a similar problem.
We've tried other appliances in the socket and it works. Using...
As a keen adult learner any help would be appreciated
I understand that an RCD trips when there is an imbalance detected between L and N.
If a 30mA RCD is monitoring several circuits (in a split board for example) and one of the circuits is protected by a 32A Type B MCB. I'm trying to...
I recently purchased waterproof garden strip light from Amazon but yesterday I turned on garden light at night time after a long spell of heavy rain during day time and I heard a buzzing sound coming from it. After a while my RCD tripped but the same light when I turned on dry day nothing...
Cooker heating element became misshaped. Tried to bend into shape and broke. Removed element and replaced. On switching the cooker off on occasion it trips the fuse. There was no issue prior. Could anybody advise why this is happening. Thank you
Hi just wondering if someone can help me.
I have an rcbo that keeps tripping but only when the fly earth and neutral lead on the bars it trips out.
Has this happened to anyone else.
I could just replace the rcbo as this could be faulty but don't want to do that if there could be another...
Hi, I seem to have an RCD that keeps cutting the power at random times without actually tripping, if I reset it, the power comes on and will stay on for anything from a few hours to a few weeks. I've been through all the obvious things, unplugging everything, plug in one at a time etc, nothing...
Hey all, I'm looking for some advice to help me troubleshoot my strange issue with my consumer unit/fuse board on which my RCD keeps tripping.
Disclaimer - I'm a DIYer. I have an electrician involved and I'm 100% planning on leaving the work to the pro(s). However, He's not had time to do any...
Hi all.
We have a 120v 20 amp circuit to an accessory dwelling with a run of about 75' of direct bury #12. The breaker keeps tripping even when there is nothing connected to the circuit. What I've done so far:
Checked all connections in the circuit(outlets, etc)
Then, disconnected the...
Hi, recently moved into 30 year old home. We were renovating it for a few months and didn't notice this issue. 3-4 times over last month the power has gone out to the entire home, without flipping any circuits. When we've been home for it (twice) it has only lasted a few seconds. I'm yet to ask...
I installed a transformer for 5 smart thermostats, 1 of the thermostats trips the transformer fuse button right when I turn on the power. There is no call for heat, the c wire isn't connected at the thermostat, just the white and red and the c wire and red to the transformer. It is a 150VA...
What should you do if a client has a CU that is a split board protected by 2 * 63Amp 30mA double pole RCCDs, you took Zs and tested both RCCDs by their buttons before starting work.
But on completion of work, one of the RCCDs, when tested via tester, would not trip, the other operated as expected!
Hi all,
Curious one and hopefully some one of you could give me some advice.
A customer has had a steeltech shed installed at their premises. A large one. Wants 3x light fittings and 5 double sockets intalled. There's an electric roller shutter door on the shed also to be plugged in. My plan...

Have narrowed down the source of an occasional trip to one light circuit which is a varilight v-pro master dimmer slave set up.
This is one of 5 LED, low total wattage light circuits connected to one 6A RCBO breaker (so the issue could be a short or a ground leak). Zero problems...
Hi All,
Seeking some thoughts on my own Omega free standing 900mm oven.
Over the past year the oven has been tripping the supplying RCBO unit.
I have replaces the rear fan forced element and thermostat but the unit continues to trip rcbo.
Does anyone have any other ideas on shot might cause the...
Called out to fault on RCD tripping maybe twice in a month for sometime.
Did all the tests & found RCD was faulty, Refitted a new Rcd Type A which made matters worst.
So refitted original RCD Type AC for the time being.
Insulation Resistance measurements were 20 M ohms.
Ring continuity fine...
At my place of work we have just had multiple LED advertisement screens fitted outdoors, the company specified 16amp RCBO’s for each set of screens. On powering up, the circuits were nuisance tripping due to earth leakage. So the company who installed swapped the rcbo for MCB’s.
The screens...
