Hi, Ive just altered a lighting circuit in a large victorian house and would just like someone to help me get a better understanding of my test results (I dont want to just be logging metre readings). My R1+R2 results were 11.3, my ZE was 0.22 but my ZS was 1.56. So if Ze + (R1+R2) = Zs my...
Hi all,
Not long took the plunge and set up as self employed after spending 9 years in the trade. The problem I have is I have never had to deal with heating systems. It is something I want to get my head round because at the moment if I get called out to a heating fault I would be a bit...

hi guys just something that's been bugging me, as i understand it a MCB trips on overload (to much current) and a RCD trips on a imbalance of amps through live / neutral , its important to have a low resistance fault path for the protection devices to operate promptly but wouldn't a mcb trip...

Hello, I completed my NVQ 3 Electrical Installation course in 1999/2000 - I received my certificates and immediately changed career .... Few years later I was employed as a factory electrician for 3 years and after that I worked another 3 years in my current job as a multi-skilled engineer...
I'm trying to work out how many panels I can get on my south facing roof but I'm a little confused with regards to shading. It looks like the only shading I will get will be from a neighbours roof but only during the depths of winter.
Does anyone know how to calculate potential yield of the...

Hi there,
I have to confess I'm not an electrician... Nor do I know anything about it. But that's why I'm here. I'm doing a bit of research into tradespeople, and wondered if any of you wouldn't mind giving me your two-pennies worth on a few things?
Just wondering how you find your work?
If...

Believe that I am (mostly) up to speed with electricity as applied to appliances (n.b. just realised as I wrote this, that is where the word appliances comes from, never occurred to me before!), so I am now trying to understand installation voltages. My aim is to learn/train eventually to become...
Hi All,
I am due to start year 2 of C&G2330 L2 in September and wish to get my head around RCD ratings. I think I have grasped the principle of how they work eg: ensuring the line and neutral currents balance. However, I am not sure about the ratings printed on the units themselves.
Looking...
