I am in the habit of fitting 'Fusebox' consumer units. However, I notice that Danson are even cheaper.
Has anyone fitted them? Are they acceptable quality? Any problems with the RCBO's?
If they are 'Chint' like quality then I would rather avoid them. Chint are the only RCD's I have ever come...
Hi,
I've just landed a job as an electrical tester and need a new MFT (mainly light industrial).
As I'm going to be spending considerable time testing I thought I'd ask about the new high-end options.
what are peoples favourites?
Are these new fancy options like Bluetooth on the mergers...
Hey All,
So query I have had for a long time is this:
Why supply special entry glands for a metal unit (top and bottom) to help stop the spread of fire/dust ingress/water/fingers etc
then go and have a bloody great big knockout at the back which only needs a grommet strip to protect the...
Hello everyone,
I need to supply power from an A/C wall plug to an enclosure containing 2 power supply units.
These are:
1 - Switching Power Supply INPUT 100-240v 3.0A / OUTPUT 5v = 40A --> connected to LED lights
2 - Power Supply Unit INPUT 100-240v 1.5A / OUTPUT 5v = 10A --> connected to...
Hi,
I've got to put in an additional consumer unit into quite a large property and rather than daisy chaining them back to a single MCB in the main board which is RCD protected, I wondered if this a better solution: The property is served by TNC-S with an isolator switch.
Connect new tails into...
Hi guys.
Just need pulling into check on this one. I’ve been asked to wire an extension including new lights and sockets and SD’s ran from existing circuits in the house.
Now his mains was fitted in ‘15; a split load RCD mains, located in a hallway of plastic construction.
I’ve always...
Hey guys, been trying to find via google the bespoke/custom made consumer unit manufacture with no joy, can anybody remember what the company was called? or better yet have a link?
cheers
I've completed level 2 and 3 fulltime in college and recently started doing the performance units. Am I meant to be given a question sheet or a handout of some kind? All I've been given is a "performance assessment criteria" leaflet and a job report example, which seems to answer questions...
My daughter has ground floor flat, there are four flats on each floor. The consumer Units for each flat are located just outside each flat in the communal hall way, Is this against the Regulations?
What is the story with them? I thought they were being discontinued (not sure where i heard that tho). But recently i noticed they were selling SPD models that i had never seen before. Have they had a change or heart or is this still old stock?
We have a Electrical PLC Control Panel that has to supply 45 Fused Spur units, do I need to protect these with an RCD, we have a 10A Type D MCB at the moment.
Each Fused spur controls an electronic Volume/Pressure controller which is rated at 130mA.
Good old amendment 3 and the demise of all that's plastic, we have seen many discussions on the good old plastic consumer units, so now for those EICR's where plastic has and will be around for quite some time, SO !!
We all seem to have slightly differing views on this, but here goes.
C2 if...
Evening..Just wondering if it's acceptable to run 3 separate consumer units off one 3 phase meter, I have seen 3 consumer units off 3 meters on a 3 phase supply many times but never off 1 meter?
Cheers
The consumer units are in outdoor buildings, each running minimal lights & 2 plug sockets. The cables are all in place, it's literally just replacing four old consumer units with new ones. Tia!
I decided, having lived with using a live circuit, to buy a proving unit. I opted for a Kewtech Prove 4 which covers 5 voltages between 690volts and 50 volts. The device starts at 690 volts which is ok for my Megger 2 pole tester. My fluke clamp meter has a limit of 600 volts. The second problem...
Hi. I have a problem I’d like some advice on, please. If you just want to know the question please go directly to section B of the following. If you want to know the background/context, please read section A first.
SECTION A – BACKGROUND STORY/CONTEXT:
As will soon become obvious, I’m new to...
