Job is to extend a kitchen ring circuit, and have a question about Insulation Resistance values.
Tests on existing ring (2.5/1.5 t&e) carried out and results as follows -
Ring continuity (end to end)
R1-R1 = .38W
RN-RN = .42W
R2-R2 = .64W
Continuity W
R1-R2 = .34W
Insulation Resistance MW...
Hi guys
After advice doing EICR report on a welfare set up on a building site I am after advice on my coding
welfare set up is on a tn-s protected by 100ma main rcd tripping out at 42.3ms at x1 I have some covector heating circuits on a c16 mcb but zs is to high for the c16 what code would...
Scenario
The building has its own supply and forms part of a 230 v TT System. Ze and PFC have not been measured. All circuits are wired in 70 degree Celsius thermoplastic single core cables, with copper conductors, in surface mounted, galvanized steel trunking and conduit. All accessories...
Guys,
As we know, for switches/cables/isolators etc, you need to multiply your Voc values by 1.15 and Isc values by 1.25 to calculate the relevant max values for suitable protection. However, does this apply to MPPT or Max DC voltage/current input values on inverters? Any thoughts?
Thanks
Andy
just done eicr on a 3 phase db LI= 1.33KA L2=1.44 L3=1.48 THESE ARE THE PSCC VALUES SO ADDED TOGETHER THEY GIVE ME 4.25 KA THE LAST TEST DONE 5 YEARS AGO WAS 5.5KA NO WHAT WOULD CAUSE THIS TO BE LOWER NOTHING HAS CHANGED IN DB AND I NO THE READINGS ARE ACCEPTABLE YOUR THOUGHTS PLEASE
I have taken the Voc, Isc and Irradiance measurements for my strings and entered these on my paperwork, but I do not know what values I am supposed to be entering for the Voc (STC) and Isc (STC) values in the Array Parameters section of my paperwork.
Looking at the same paperwork from another...
Hello i havent done much testing before so i am trying to brush up on my Testing skills before i join Elecsa, i have a couple of questions about R2 testing please.
I understand how to carry out R1 R2 tests using method 1 and that we do them to calculate the Zs of our circuit Zs=Ze+R1+R2
But i...

I have been told by several users of Visual Building Solar Designer that while using the software to calculate the FIT, they like the feature to select the local irradiance values from a map. However I also just heard from another user, that they have been told to use a single irradiance value...
Why is it when you cross connect the conductors at each leg and then test continuity, the result is one quarter of the combined resistances of the legs? I am usually pretty good at seeing how/why calculations work out, but just cannot in this case get my head around why the value measured is a...
Just had a PIR done for a house we were hoping to buy.
The house - victorian/edwardian terrace - has 8 circuits and the wiring is approx 20yrs old according to the PIR.
The report gives the same reading for ALL circuits. Live-Live is 1.01 Mohms and Live-E is 0.17 Mohms. Continuity Polarity...

Ok....I'm clearly in a minority on this. So to all the guys on here who install small scale TT systems some questions.
What value of Ra do you accept? What values of Ra do you aim for? How far do you go to achieve those values? If you cant achieve your desired value (ie values comparable to a TN...
Can some one explain if your pscc value is say 4.6ka well in gn3 it says that your protective device must not be less than that value so say the protective device was 5ka how would the protective device trip if it's fault current was only 4.6ka please explain cheers lads
Could someone please confirm the +/- values of voltage supply in the UK. (With a reference, now I’m pushing my luck)!
I’ve always worked on –5% to + 7.5%. the first plants I worked on were all supplied at 11400V so all transformers had the taps set at +2.5%.
I have looked and it’s like...
Hello,
I have my practical 2391 test on Friday and have been told by the examiner that we will be required to complete the calcuation for the maximum operating temperature for Zs. I am unsuse what to do with the calculation.
From guidance notes three (second example down, pg 113), it...
If I have a very low Ze Reading ie. 0.06 ohms and a Zs Reading on a 40amp shower circuit of 0.1 ohms under fault conditions for instance dead short at pull cord could this cause the main incoming fuse to blow before the mcb trips?? Thanks any input would be appreciated.
I am going through my college notes for my AM2 starting tomorrow and i am struggling to find the table which shows allowable R1+R2 values i only have the new green books to hand any advise would be great however i think it is the old red books that are provided, i have a feeling i am missing...
A client of ours are having an 800kva optimiser installed presently.
So its got me thinking, as being as its basically another transformer (dare i say an isolating transformer? although i stand to be corrected!), will this effect the existing Zs values throughtout the installation? Rather like...
