Hi All
I’m in charge of the maintenance (machinery and facilities) in a plastics manufacturing business. I have a ‘team’ of little old me and an apprentice! We have 7 (soon to be 12) injection moulding machines and 8 extrusion lines, so to say we are busy is an understatement. Anyway, enough of...
To my understanding it would be ideal to test and inspect before energisation, but it isn't 100% necessary. If it leaves a client without power, it breaches health and safety (no power to safety services etc) or inconveniences them I'd have thought it would be reasonably practicable to turn on...
Hi this is my first post,
I’m looking for some advice I’m doing my Inital verification course as part of my NVQ. I’ve passed the practical part but I’m on my third resit of the 90 min exam. There’s a particular section towards the end based around,
“ Being able to test electricial instalations...
Good morning,
I recently decided to buy an Amperis AK-30 three-phase relay test equipment device and although I don't control it well yet, it seems good, since it is able to analyze all types of relays (current, voltage, frequency, power, impedance, harmonics, distance, ...)
The truth is that...
Hi everyone,
Question about 2391-52 (initial verification and periodic testing)
A brief background to my situation; I do some in-house wiring for industrial applications, stuff like 3-phase motors, phase controllers, machines into spurs, that sort of thing. I’m not a proper spark & don’t...
I sat the 2391-52 Initial Verification & Periodic Inspection and Testing online Exam last week and failed by 1 mark. I got 100% in 2393-10 and 90% in 2382-18 so not unfamiliar with electrical exams. I was wondering:
1. Does this exam follow a sequential format as similar to that of the 2382-18...
I'm trying to gauge what the common industry practice is relating to Initial Verification on large commercial jobs.
I've been working as a tester for the last few years in the South East, and when I test an installation, I'm expected to correct any minor faults, which I do.
As any tester will...
How come the sequence of tests in guidance note 3 is that the Zs test comes before the PFC test?
Isn't it normal to do PFC test before the Zs test? Because then you can do your PFC test, put the board cover on and energize the board without coming back to do the PFC test.
I had been sent on the NIC Solar PV course last year to learn how to test the DC side of solar installations as my company are testing solar panels in social housing. Due to obvious circumstances the testing work has only started this week and as I completed the course a year ago i'm struggling...
Hi guys,

Hello there,
I would like to go on and gain the Design and Verification qualification. I live in East Sussex (South East of England) and I'm not sure which training company to use. I've had bad experiences in the past with some places that made me feel like cattle and the person at the front...
Evening folks. Does anyone know how many Mark's you require to pass the written exam. Or if anyone would like to share their experiences on the course and the exam itself.
So I've got my 2391... and was always taught and was under the impression that when carrying out R1+R2 tests on all circuits you must carry out the test at all points on the circuit, not the furthest point or a selection of points, I thought the test was to A. Prove a earth path that is suitable...
Hi I work in the food industry and I am checking who can do initial verifications after you have installed a system. Also what qualifications if any do you need. I currently Hold 18th Edition, Nvq level 3 and time served.

Not sure if this is the correct forum to post this in (still trying to work out where the trainee section is).
Just been doing some practice fault-finding online.
Found this scenario:
