    Volt Drop

Hi guys, Need to put a 32A 3phase supply in to a 10KVA site transformer using swa. The run is 250m long but would i need to apply 3% or 5% volt drop?? It works out at 3% i need to use a 35mm cable and at 5% i can use 16mm. Anyone have any idea??? Thanks Phaze-3

Calculating volt drop for >16mm cable

Hello there. I'm trying to calculate the volt drop on cables that are over 16mm csa using the tables in BS7671. It's quite easy for lower sized cables, (length x design current x mV/A/m, if I'm right) but what happens when you go above 16mm and have a resistive component mV/A/m(r), reactive...

    1% AC volt drop

Hi Guys, I haven't been on here for a while and was just wondering how most people are interpreting the DTI guide 1% voltage drop recommendation nowadays? Is the only way to be 100% sure that inverters will not ever drop out to design to 1%? And when meeting 1% requires enormous cable sizes...

    24 volt, 50 hertz, 81 watt pump

I've got a very well made 24 volt, 50 hertz, 81 watt pump, however I do NOT have a transformer/converter. I'm from down-under, so we run on between 220 to 250 volts. Is there a nifty trick one can do to get this thing running on 240 volts? Can I put a different transformer in-line with a...

    Volt drop question.

A single phase power circuit supplying an item of equiptment, having a full load current of 25A, is to be checked to confirm voltage drop compliance , the circuit is to be installed using 6.00mm2 copper conductors, with a circuit length of 35m. a) Calculate the maximum permissible voltage drop...

Volt drop, why do we bother?

Looking at the regs it says we have a supply of 230 Volts and so we do our calculations based on this so that if we had to install lights on the end of a long cable we would use a cable with a larger CSA and hence more cost. The fact of the matter is we have a supply of 240 Volts so why do we...

    Volt drop question

Greetings. Let's say you have a 2.5mm cable that you want to extend by quite a long run. After looking at your load and volt drop calculations you arrive at a cable size for the extension of 6mm. Would it be bad practice to add a 6mm extension to the end of a 2.5mm cable? The circuit...
