LED lamp flashes every 10-15 seconds when switched off. The lamp is in a bathroom in circuit with a timed overrun extract fan. I understand that the cause can be induced voltage, or bleed off from the electronic switch in the fan timer. Is there a simple solution to this?
Hello, hoping for advice on this... We intend to use 18volt Makita power tools high in the Khumbu mountains near Everest. With no mains power on site I’d appreciate any advice on an affordable yet lightweight, portable and efficient set up to recharge batteries. Probably x10 4.00 Ah units per...
Most meters today I understand are multimeters but I am only interested in the volt meter circuitry. The reason I am asking this is because the volt meter seems to only register voltage across a load and not on a plain conductor such as the neutral circuit. In my limited experience and...
I haven't a clue what they are good for but they seem to be cheap at the junk yard (Around $15) so I'm wondering if they can be used with a battery bank as a UPS? Thanks, Jim
Hi
I have been called out to a fault on a grain dryer where the motor interlocks are not disconnecting. Previous conveyors. Upon investigation I have found one starter that does not disconnect the preceding motor but when tripped I am getting 550v to earth from a1 and wait for it 760volts to...
I'm in a vineyard. There is a 300m buried SWA from the ccu direct to a 2 gang socket.
I'm getting 247V across N and L at the ccu.... But at the socket I'm getting 100V across E and N and 147 across L and N.
Continuity as a radial tested ok

I haven't had the chance to install an UH8 before and it looks a cracking piece of kit.
However I'm a little unsure on best place to get a Live from, to feed the Volt-free LS, with the LR going to boilers 230 switch.
Take the UH8's main live or take the boilers? There's no valves at the moment...
hi, I have ariston boiler with volt free connection ,ta1, this should have been plumbed with 2x 2 port valves as recommended by manufacturer , but plumber has installed 3 port valve so we have to put relays in can anyone put me in right direction with wiring from wiring centre to relays?
Firstly I'm new here so forgive me if this is in the wrong place or a stupid query, I'm no electrician by any stretch.

Fluke have brought out a non contact volt meter, looks quite usefull, anyone tried one in the field? T6-1000 | Fluke T6-1000 Handheld Electrometer, 200A ac 1000V ac 1000V dc | Fluke - http://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/digital-multimeters/1462605/
Hi all.
I am planning a metal table lamp. The light will be a 12 volt LED fed from a plug in transformer, so there will not be any 240 volt cable or connection to the table lamp. Do I need to earth the metal of the table lamp?
Hello all. I am looking for some info re a DC to DC converter.
I have a part share in a narrowboat and also have sleep apnoea for which I use a CPAP machine while sleeping. In the past it hasn't been a problem as my previous machine was rated 40 watts at 23o volts for which I used a 300 watt...
Hello all,

I recently purchased what seems to be quite an effective tyre compressor to use on a Motor Caravan with 60/65 lbs pressure. I say, "what seems to be quite effective" because unlike a couple of other tyre compressors it does actually raise the tyre pressures.
However, the wires from the...
Hi there,

Can I get transformers for such voltages?
Also what...
