Thanks!
Trying to install new switch to turn on a ceiling light.
There are 2 black, 1 red, and ground (bare copper) wire.
How do I wire this to a single pole switch? Or do I need double/3-way switch?
The switch should be the only one to on/off the ceiling light.
Hi.
I'm wanting to connect a temp controlled unit that will turn on and off a hot water pump.
Can't weigh up how to do it as the wiring diagram doesn't make any sense to me.
Thank you.
Hi all,
I'm hoping there is something I can do to make this work without having to run 14/3 from switch to switch. I've attached my simple sketch of what I am working with but essentially everything has 14/2 running to it and 14/2 goes switch to switch.
From what I can tell this would be...
I recently purchased a steam sterilizer with a PID controller and I'm trying to figure out how to power it safely. The sterilizer requires 240v but the PID (if I understand it correctly) uses the return 120v on the neutral wire. My problem is that I have an old house and the neutral and ground...
I have fitted a touch control switch to a lamp, (I have done many no problem)…..However in this table lamp with a cast iron base the device does not operate when connected to the base? But when unscrewed the light turns on and 3 stage dims as it should. Any ideas welcome please.
hi all. I am new here and am doing some work on my house. I have a question regarding wire sizes; As far as I was aware the sizes are 1.5, 2.5 then 6.0 etc (I am assuming this is the area of copper) however I have just come across 4mm. dia. in my house. Is this an old standard no longer used ?
I'm using an Omron Timer H3CA-A to wire a 24V thermostat to control a 120V electrical plug. Need to know which pins to connect which wires to. Two wire thermostat, standard 120 plug.
2ga is what i think i need for the runs. ill have 220v out there so ill do 3 runs for hot/hot/neutral and then ground. reading the current code it seems i need grounding rods out there as well as a dedicated ground from house to garage? is that right?
can i sleeve cables for wire color change...

I have a 4-bulb fluorescent light, previously wired for T-12?, now wired for T-8, with a bad ballasts. I think my tombstones are non-shunted. It looks like I can just remove the ballast, direct wire the whites to one side of each of one end's tombstone, and the blacks to the other side of the...
Hello!
I have a 320 amp service (400 amps) in a main panel. I want to create a subpanel 1,000 feet away with a 200 amp service there. Can someone tell me what size wires to run, if aluminum or copper, and how many wires? For, say a 3% voltage drop? How would you do it?
Thank you!
Hi,
We want to buy a Powervault Battery/Inverter/charger storage system.
The Powervault must be able to read a current transformer, clipped on to the incoming mains line next to the consumer unit. This current transformer module has an ethernet connection.
The following Powervault...
Hi!
I'm using a cable with 2 poles and a shielding wire.
The cable should be soldered to a circuit board with + and -. But I'm wondering what to do with the shielding wire?
I've read that it should be connected to ground in one of the ends. But I'm wondering where and how to connect to ground...
