    Installing New Wall Light Switch with 2 Black and 1 Red Wire?

    Trying to install new switch to turn on a ceiling light. There are 2 black, 1 red, and ground (bare copper) wire. How do I wire this to a single pole switch? Or do I need double/3-way switch? The switch should be the only one to on/off the ceiling light.

    Touch control lamps only works when switch wire is disconnected.

    I have fitted a touch control switch to a lamp, (I have done many no problem)…..However in this table lamp with a cast iron base the device does not operate when connected to the base? But when unscrewed the light turns on and 3 stage dims as it should. Any ideas welcome please.

    wire sizes - what is standard

    hi all. I am new here and am doing some work on my house. I have a question regarding wire sizes; As far as I was aware the sizes are 1.5, 2.5 then 6.0 etc (I am assuming this is the area of copper) however I have just come across 4mm. dia. in my house. Is this an old standard no longer used ?
