Hi I was hoping someone people on here could give me some advice on a electrical course with access training. I’ve seen mixed reviews but would like to hear from someone who has done the course. Has anyone done this course or know if it’s any good? And I’ve been told by them that after...
Hi guys,
I'm starting to do a bit of DIY in our house - initially just replacing light fittings but am keen to do more and am looking for tools to check that the area I want to work on is safe.
As this is just for DIY I don't want to spend a fortune but want stuff that's safe and good enough...
Just looking at getting a new mobile for work. Has anyone seen the CAT S60?
It looks to be quite a rugged phone which could be quite good. Does anyone know if the flir feature is any good or is it just a gimmick? Thinking about quick fault finding, loose connections in consumer units generating...
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on having winter tyres - being in the south it hardly seems worth while ............ even the "beast from the east" only managed a light sprinkle!
Thanks
should I splash the cash and buy a veto? At the moment I ve got a Stanley large open tote bag. Which is fine but weighs a tonne. Also I only regularly use about a third of the tools that are in it. So my thinking is keep that in the van then get a smaller bag to carry in. Veto bags look great...
Had an email about this screwfix live show this weekend in Farnborough.
Has anybody been and is it worth going?
These things used to be great as you'd get loads of freebies all they seem to offer now is 10% in screwfix which you get if you ask anyway on a big order and a bag of random free bits...
hi guys
I’m thinking of taking the c&g 2919 course
Has anyone taken this course and found they get much work through being OLEV registered. I know there is a big push over the next year so wondering weather it’s worth jumping on it now.
Would be nice to get some advice from people currently...
I am really in need of work, I have applied to jobs via internet and got a call, telling me that I am ready to start but I need to join an umbrella company.
I have heard of these types of companies and most people have bad things to say about them and a few say they are ok. It's seems to be...
I never have and still do not understand how a web page can get me more work. I can't imagine someone in their underpants on the internet typing for an electrician whereas he can ask his neighbour or someone anywhere or phone a friend. Most of the work I have got is through friends and me giving...
Stumbled upon a guide that the installers and maintenance teams adhere to, contains codes for reporting etc, might be interesting.
Scroll down to Page 8 onward.

hi all, ive recently started a business so trying to spend my pennies wisely, I can understand checkatrade from a legitimacy point of view but im interested in how much work you can expect to generate from them as an advertisement platform?
Hey chaps, there's a few YouTube channels I watch from time to time, sparkyninja is good, very informative. I like John Wards stuff too, very dry delivery. Thomas Nagy's channel is good to have a little cry at London's prices. Any recommendations on what other people have a look at?
I have the trustmark membership thinking that it makes the business look professional, even though I've never had a single call from anyone saying they've seen me on the trustmark site. I believe it's around £80 a year (haven't got the invoice to hand), and wondering if it makes the slightest...
As part of a renovation to my home I'm having some electrical work done. It's been organised through the builder so he contracts with the sparkie and I contract with the builder. The sparkie is NICEIC registered and has just done the testing prior to issuing the certificate. He's made the...

Some time ago I came on here looking for advice on how to do something...cant remember what exactly...something I just wanted an answer to so that I could just do it quick and get on.

Talking to a property developer today, he is in the market for an electrician for hsi next new build.
He recently built a building with 6 flats, the 3 on the left are identical layout and the 3 on the left are identical layouts.
He has no confidence in the certificates he has been given by the...
Hi folks
I recently found this above a customer's bathroom false ceiling, when I went to replace some obviously unsuitable downlights with suitable ones. This mess was in use, supplying said downlights. Naturally I rewired the downlights, having agreed a price with the customer.
Now, the...
